Susan Mackey was one of the BEST provider appointments I have ever attended. After being in an accident and having never seen a Neurologist before, her thorough questions and extremely informative knowledge not only put me at ease but certainly allowed me to understand what I was going through verbatim. Her amazing front receptionist not only helped me with my referrals, she printed e everything, highlighted & broke everything down to me!! She was AMAZING with such a smile and I just cannot thank all of them for making my appointment so seamless. Thank you, thank you!!

I went to see Dr Mackey after getting injured at work. It took me a week to find her and it was worth the effort. She gave me a very comprehensive exam. We talked quite a bit about my injury, symptoms, and a plan of action including supplements, exercise and diet. She is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Very to the point and precise in her statements. She is a good listener and took time to let me speak. I don’t need a Dr to coddle my emotions, I need a Dr to work on getting me better. She fits the bill perfectly. I highly recommend her if you are serious about feeling better.

Dr Mackey is extremely knowledgeable in regards to concussions. She listens and dots every i and crosses every T and explains everything so the patient can understand there situation. She's respectful, empathetic and focused when treating her patients. I highly recommend her and glad I found her

Dr. Mackey is thorough, precise and extremely caring. Her treatment plan is extensive as she leaves no stone unturned in your recovery. After my car accident I had a concussion and I felt as if I had such a loss of control in thinking concentrating and my fine and gross motor skills. Dr. Mackey listened and offered so many suggestions and made sure I left her office having scheduled every necessary appointment, that have ultimately aided in my almost complete recovery. I have read a few of the reviews and the portrayal of Dr. Mackey must be completely misunderstood. I honestly couldn't have gotten this far in my recovery without her, and I have the utmost respect for her.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. She's very condescending. She doesn't listen very judgmental. I would 1000% leave her in the process of finding a new neurologist. I do not recommend her to anyone unless you'd like to be judged and belittled buy a healthcare professional. she's the one to go to.

My 14 yr old got a concussion and we went to see Susan Mackey. She was very thorough and detailed in her intake and it gave me great confidence of her care. She put together a concussion plan and made my nervous daughter feel at ease. She was caring and funny and explained everything I needed to know. As a parent I couldn’t ask for more. I’ve already recommended her to others!

Has no idea what she’s doing so just tells you to go to the er even after all tests were completed and came back normal

I have read all of the reviews and want to defend the charge of MacKey's "rudeness". The 1st thing said was that she was very detail oriented & has a method for conducting the first appointment. She actually said, "Let me lead the conversation, because there is a method to my madness. I cross every "t" and dot every "i" as we go along, so please just follow me". Perhaps had she not lead with that, I could have found her rude or unpleasant, etc. However, by the end of our lengthy appointment, I knew that I was in the right hands. Based on our discussion, she provided a treatment plan that was far more comprehensive than I had expected. I was very impressed. She was recommended by 3 of my doctors. Based on some of the instructions I have followed, I am already seeing some improvements in my medical issues. What is wrong with her enhancing her education.? Her Chiro experience has been very helpful in adding some holistic aspects to traditional treatments.

Dr MacKay is an extraordinarily health professional. She took the time to review my emergency room records and explain what I should and shouldn’t do from a neurological perspective. It’s rare to find such a capable and caring professional.

Very fast talking and not a good listener.

Normally I don't take to social media for reviews but today I'm making the exception. Jan. 11 2022 I saw Susan Mackey P.A. for my follow up visit from a car accident that I had back in October. My chief complaint was the nagging pain I had in my neck for 3 straight months since the accident I told her that I had to wait for an appointment with pain management on Feb 28th 2022. Susan Mackey could see I was in pain and discomfort and took it upon herself to get me to see Chris Stobe for Trigger Point injections the following week. I was very nervous to have needles in my neck but Chris talked with me during the entire procedure which made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. After the soreness wore off (48 hours) I was pain free and 3 weeks later I am STILL pain free. I just want to thank Susan Mackey and Chris Stobe for the excellent care I received this past 2 months at Stony Brook Neurology. I will gladly recommend Stony Brook Neurology to my family and friends in the future.

I am pleased to highly recommend Susan Mackay. Prior to choosing the best neurology office post a head injury, I researched and sought recommendations from the doctors I respect. Stony Brook’s Neurologist PA, Susan Mackey name was repeated over and over. She is an careful listener to a patient’s concerns, and exceptionally skilled doing everything necessary to diagnoses the problem, and establish a cohesive treatment plan to ensure quality care and a successful recovery. Susan Mackay is an experienced, and accomplished expert in the neurology field.

Susan Mackey is the kind of doctor you wish all your doctors could be like. She is very thorough but also very kind and really listens to you. She also understands that your health is more than just your physical body. She is a literal wealth of knowledge and will take the time to help you in every way. She is truly an asset to the medical community and I highly recommend her if you are looking for a neurologist. She is definitely top notch and I was very lucky to have found her.

Dr. Mackey is fantastic, direct and to the point. Free with her time when you have questions, Dr. Mackey does not rush us out of her office.

To start, the office was rude. The front desk was rude. I was asked, "you have no insurance?" in a very demeaning way. I do have insurance, but I feel horrible for the people without insurance, they must feel terrible. The girl who took blood pressure was fine. However, The PA was worse than the front desk. PA Mackay was rude and didn't even make eye contact. Asked questions, made notes, didn't look up, I felt like I was a huge inconvenience to her. The whole visit, I felt shamed by her. Very distasteful, I don't understand why someone would go into a field to help people if they obviously dislike people so much. I was not comfortable for one second in that office. I am not a person who can speak up for myself, and I felt taken advantage of. I was not able to talk about what was going on with me because of the adversarial (almost hostile) environment. I honestly considered making a complaint to the Dept. of Health, but what would I say ... They shamed me?

Her demeanor was very unappreciable. She thinks she is more than what she is. A chiropractor that is now a PA, basically trying to be a "doctor." I would not recommend going to her unless you want to be treated like crap. Take a hard look at her reviews.

Dr. Mackey can be direct at times but it is because she wants you to get the best possible outcoe for your child, she is a straight shooter and its refreshing.

Susan Mackey is by far one of the most incredible physicians I have ever met. She is caring, extremely thorough, honest, and kind. For someone like myself that needs extra attention due to my complicated medical needs, she has always been more than attentive, compassionate, and pays attention to detail. Whether in the office or requesting a call back, I've never encountered any communication flaws in the almost 2 years of seeing her for ADHD/other issues. What I appreciate most is that she takes her time to listen to your troubles and genuinely wants to help solve the issues you're having. Susan is a problem solver and for that I'm thankful to be in her care!
