Susannah Volkers

I am very thankful to have has Susannah as my therapist. She is extremely compassionate, empathetic, and professional. Susannah helped me so much during the time I had weekly sessions with her. My visits with her have had a lasting impact on my life, and I highly recommend her services if you are looking for a therapist.

I had a truly wonderful experience with Susannah as my therapist. I have had many therapists due to moving around a lot, and I am very grateful for my year and a half with Susannah. She is very knowledgeable in her work and also gentle, attentive, and reflective. It was very important to me to have a faith-based therapist who is a WOC. She was able to connect with me in a different way compared to previous therapists and meet me where I was. We were able to process through trauma, intersectionality, life transitions, complex emotions, etc. When we started, I asked Susannah for practical tools and "homework" that I could practice on my own. She provided me with many tangible strategies that I still put into practice today. Susannah was also very flexible with scheduling (all video calls). I feel like I grew tremendously, discovered so much more about myself, and created better boundaries for myself with the support, wisdom, and expertise of Susannah.

She was really great at helping me confront my trauma and walking me through processing it. I appreciated her explaining exercises and asking me what I was comfortable talking about. She was always supportive and made me feel like I had a safe space to talk. Whenever I was confused about something like how I was feeling, she would help me work through it to find clarity.

I cannot express how thankful I am for Susannah. Even though almost all of our sessions were online, she did a great job connecting with me! She asked excellent questions, gave me great suggestions, and listened so well. She integrated faith into the counseling sessions in a way that was very helpful for me. I would recommend Susannah to anyone looking for counseling.

I was with Susannah for a long time. She made me feel supported and not alone. She helped with my anxiety and really listened to all that I was sayin and gave me feedback on everyrhing so I knew she was listening. She pushed my boundaries and honestly it helped me so much even if I’m the moment I didn’t see it.

Susannah did an excellent job providing pre-martial Christian counseling sessions to my wife and I.

Being my first time in counseling, I was nervous about what therapy would look like and if Susannah and I would have good chemistry and communicate well. Within minutes, she put my fears at ease, as we sat and drank tea on the couch and talked. My first session with her was definitely emotional and challenging for me, but she helped me breathe and coached me through it. She asked me my preferences, what I hoped to get out of counseling, and we set goals from Day 1. Susannah is a great listener, she remembered the names of my friends and family, and what was going on in my life. As we transitioned to FaceTime calls because of covid, I never felt like we lost anything- Susannah was just as attentive and engaged. I've recommended her to several friends, she has helped me so much! Scheduling appointments and calls with her was easy, and the other staff in the office were very kind.

Susannah was literally a godsend. I prayed for someone to help navigate through a difficult time, and I found her on psychology today. After the first appointment, I knew it was a divine inspired match. Her kind, non judgmental, attentive demeanor set the tone every session. She truly knows the Bible and clearly has a relationship with God , which is something I was searching for and appreciated. She helped me find clarity, peace, and gratitude during a difficult season in my life and I'll never forget our sessions and the progress we made together.
