Incompetent and inappropriate. Doesn't know what to do with people who don't fit what he's used to. Occasionally meanders off-topic for long stretches of time while dominating the conversation instead of listening to the patient. Seems oblivious to the inappropriateness of some of his behavior, such as: doing data entry on his laptop for the first few minutes of a session and saying 'oh don't worry, this is just copy-pasting, I'm listening.' Suddenly standing up right in the middle of a session without warning & saying 'hang on-- I have to take the trash out' and then grabbing his desk trashcan and putting it out into the lobby. Giving off-handed, shoot-from-the-hip life advice that shouldn't be off-handed ('I think you should be going to grad school for X thing you have some interest in'). Often mis-schedules appointments, mis-enters them into his calendar and/or misremembers the date/time (this also happened with our very first appointment). Ridiculous man. Shouldn't be practicing.

My first meeting, Tom was so laid back and I was able to lay it all out there and cried. He was not judgmental and suggested I visit his substance abuse group that night if I wanted to. Little did I know, that session saved my life and
