For my first time at a therapy session this one wasn’t good experience. I explained what I was going through and at one point i said how somebody saying the nword really affected me. In return he wanted to clarify and said if I meant the nword except he actually said the word. You don’t want your therapist to reenact what happened to you. I left immediately after that. TLDR: He said the nword.

Please think twice before seeing Thomas Runyan. My personal experience with him was one of the most hurtful interactions I have had with a therapist. He laughed (unclear if he was nervous and didn't know what else to do or, if he was laughing at me) when I would breakdown crying, and when I shared that I have contemplated killing myself, he just told me that everyone feels that sometimes. Lastly, within 5 min of meeting me he told me I needed to get on an antidepressant, we had hardly finished talking about insurance details at this point. Not only did he lack an understanding of what I was looking for from therapy, he made a diagnosis that he is not even qualified to make without taking time to actually talk to me and understand my struggles.
