After 40 years of hard drinking, I woke up and said I'm done. My insurance told me after 1 week at Phoenix House in Citra, that I should have to try this on the "outside" since it's my first time quitting drinking. It was actually the first time in my life that I did not have any alcohol to depend on. I got to know the entire staff and loved them all. Tom gave me direct 1 on 1 therapy sessions that were Awesome (especially the memory train trip). Tom is a tough therapist! When I was going voluntarily to group sessions twice a week, many others in session were only there to satisfy a COURT ORDER RELATED TO THEIR OWN CRIMINAL CHARGES! I personally took this a reward because I was in there on MY OWN and I could give these kids my experience in the alcohol and drug world. Best rehab I could ask for! I would love to stop by and see y'all coming up March 4, 2022!!

Dr. Tom was my job's onsite therapist. He helped countless people with PTSD issues. He provided guided meditation sessions. He also would bring a chair and foot massager so people at work could relax while dealing with hardships on the job. When our project was coming to a close and we were all being laid off, he was a crutch for us to lean on as we were all dealing with the anxiety of being unemployed.

Thomas Shaunessy is excellent in providing timely therapy that is effective. I have been a patient for 10 years. I don't always need him but he rises to any situation and helps me handle remotely and in person appointments. If I could give a higher rating I would. Many Thanks!

Counseling and mental health services
Dr. Shaughnessy is a fantastic counselor, who cares about his patients physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and overall health. For the couple of years that I had him as a mental health professional: he had helped many people with issues stemming from their careers and personal lives. He frequently went out of his way to check on all company employees. He set up time daily for 100's of people to have individual or group type counseling sessions. He helped anyone in need and even provided support and guidance and contacts out in the community to help people for their individual needs. We were given his personal phone number to contact him at any time. He is an amazing Dr and extremely caring person who constantly goes above and beyond for others. I highly recommend Dr Shaughnessy for counseling, mental health support, or guidance for your care.

On call therapy
I was only able to speak to Dr. Tom in short sessions. He was one of many available therapist on call at my previous job. He understood me and the struggles I work though. Posed questions that I may not have thought about yet. I am still working on my issues because I havent had the time to make more appointments, but he has helped me immensely. He also put me in contact with people who can help me and have been through similar scenarios. Thanks for all you do! If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have the support system and knowledge that I have now.

Great Help
I went to Dr Tom a year ago for therapy around my addiction issues and was not honest with him at the time .. he gave me a second opportunity after I went and got treatment and has been helpful in his guidance to maintain my sobriety and in listening to what I have going on .. he has helped me open up around my substance abuse and my past and is encouraging to continue my progress in the 12 step program .. if you are an addict or in recovery, Dr Tom is a great source for your therapeutic needs and will tell you how it is .. in therapy for substance abuse and specifically when in recovery, you need someone who is direct and calls you out on your bs as well as guides you in the right direction to maintain growth in your recovery .. for me he has done just that and I will continue to see him even after my EAP benefit sessions run out .. thankful he gave me a second chance.

I have PTSD, and was in therapy with Mr, Shaughnessy for months. Mr. Shaughnessy never seemed to remember things I told him. His office is bare and I never saw another client there. But, it’s difficult to find a Therapist and I decided to stick with him. During my last session, I had a breakdown, crying and animated talking. I was not yelling at the therapist, but he said I was. Mr. Shaughnessy told me I wasn’t getting better and his clients are normally better by now. I left his office crying, and he told me not to bother paying. We were done. I sat in my car crying outside his office for almost an hour. I was hysterical and could not drive. After an hour, Mr. Shaughnessy’s wife and receptionist came outside and angrily told me I needed to leave. She told me I was taking up their parking spaces. She did not ask how I was or why I was sitting there. I was still crying. Even if I yelled, did I deserve to be treated this way? No good therapist or his staff would treat anyone this way.

Very rude him and his wife after being told I can go to a class on Monday OR Friday when asking upon information for the locations for class of the Opposite Day due to my work schedule was hung up on multiple times by the wife and told I would be discharged from the program. Called Tom and spoke with him about feeling discouraged about how I was spoken to for a service I am paying for I was then hung up on again. After thirty two Ignored calls decided it’s not worth it. If I truly had a problem this would make me go overboard
