Dr. Valla Walker, PSY.D

I had been resistant to seeing a psychologist for counseling for many years, but a low point in life brought me to Dr. Walker. When 50 or more other offices wouldn't even answer the phone, Dr. Walker heard me out and we determined a good fit. Through my work with Dr. Walker, I have truly had my life changed through the reframing and relating of conflict and negative emotion, two things we often avoid instead of engage. Every step of the way I felt heard and understood. Communication in and out of sessions was timely and effective; I never had trouble scheduling an appointment or asking questions. While her direct style in sessions is not for everyone, it makes for effective dialog and progress. If you want someone who will empathize with, understand, and engage in thoughtful processing through your troubles, I strongly recommend Dr. Walker.

Our teenage daughter knew that "something was not right" with the way her brain worked. My wife and I tried conventional approaches through our medical provider but without success. Dr. Walker performed an in-depth analysis and identified a learning disorder. What a game changer! Now that we know what the problem is, we have been able to help our daughter. Even more importantly, she is learning to help herself based on what she now understands about the way her brain functions. Dr. Walker's compassion and desire to find the root issue is just what our daughter needed. Our daughter felt safe sharing with Dr. Walker and our whole family is grateful.

Please engage in more continuing education about family reunification. Especially when you have had no contact with the opposing party, diagnose those with whom you have had no contact with at all, and negatively describe those you have not met. For those of you who want your family to remain a unit, I do not recommend this individual.

I never leave bad reviews but I feel compelled to warn folks about this person. I’m sure she is good at something, but interpersonal relationships and empathetic listening aren’t it. She blamed me for another adults’ bad behavior, made assumptions that pulled the discussions in all the wrong directions and hammered home constantly that I’m angry and aggressive. I am not. I am hurt and deeply betrayed by people I love. She didn’t care to hear any of that. I never left feeling better. Never.

She took too many notes. She she talked about her cats way too much and when my mother was talking to her about her stress issues Dr. Valla Walker raised the co-payment. My mother didn't pay extra though. I was talking to her about how my sisters are the favorite children by my father and she called me selfish and arrogant for just wanting some positive attention. And her cat came in the room and smelled my mom's wedding ring and she said to take it off and let the cat smell it. 0/10 never again
