Med management
I have been going to Vera for years. She does the religion thing but I tell her I am not religious so don’t bother. She is fine with that. She is not a therapist, she is a med management practitioner. She sometimes act like she doesn’t know you but with all her patients I am not surprised. It is not like I see her weekly so of course she needs a minute to readjust herself. When I had a horrible trauma last year, she talked to me for about an hour to make sure I calmed down. She recommended the best therpist I ever had. She called her personally and made sure she called me back. Sometimes I have to wait a while when I come in but if someone needs extra assistance I don’t mind. I always get prompt call backs. I do recommend her.

Shocked to see a 3 star review for such a caring Provider! I have been a patient of Vera for nearly a decade. Throughout this time I have never once been without my medication- despite having personal issues with being tardy & missing appts. Something for folks to keep in mind- Vera is in the practice of Medication Management. She is not a Counselor nor Therapist. Although she does provide brief insight, direction as well as direct links to these services. Medication Management is just that- Other services are to go through other providers. Some insight-Vera asks me how my elderly mother is doing everytime I speak to her. My mother is of the upmost importance to me and this kind gesture resonates deeply with me. She is very compassionate & family oriented. Vera will not make you feel judged, more so seen. Vera nor anyone in this office has ever pushed any religious views on me. Vera’s office is a “Christian” leaning office (as in a few Christian wall hangings & Christian books for sale). This can cause some uneasy feelings if you’re not a religious person. Or- if you are religious- this can bring individuals & parents of minor patients comfort. Vera simply has religious materials available to those interested. She in no way judges those who are not religious. All people should feel welcomed despite age, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, gender, or religious beliefs. I’m my opinion it’s more so of a spiritual approach to life in general. This is her office, her life’s work. She stays true to herself & her space reflects that, period. She promotes inner peace, facing your own demons, through behavioral modification & medication (if necessary). She promotes overall well being & balance. I have met & worked professionally with many local providers in the area of psychiatric medicine. I feel my opinion is well rounded & honest. The only critique I have on the office as a whole is that you are unable to call & speak with someone directly 99% of the time. Although I will add that the wonderful ladies in reception are amazing at returning calls in a timely manner (same day). I especially enjoy my interactions with Mary-a receptionist who has been with Vera quite some time. Overall I rate Vera Imperiale’s office as 5 stars. I’d highly recommend.

Find someone else.
This NP does not return phone calls and expects you to do her work for you. She didn’t even know what medications I was on that SHE writes the script for. She is unprofessional and I’m going elsewhere.

The Worst
My son's mother and I are no longer together. I have requested her to tell me his appointment times, but she doesn't. Therefore I decided to go to the source. VERA HERSELF said, "It really would be best if you, mom, and your son all came to the appointments together." I left her a message saying I agreed with her opinion, and I asked for the next appointment time. She called back and said, "I talked to his mom, and the mom says the son doesn't want you there." I asked if she heard this from my son directly, and she said no. I said, "Well then don't you think it is possible that his mom LIED?" She had no comeback for that, so instead she changed topics and said she needed to talk to the law guardian and REFUSED to tell me his next appointment time, even though his mom and I have joint legal custody. There is one more thing about my son not wanting me there that I should mention. If that were true, then Vera could have offered to conduct the meeting in the following way: she gets his m

Awesome
I’m not really sure why some of these other reviewers are talking so negative about her. I’ve had Vera for almost 3 years now & I have never once 1. Been without my meds 2. Felt she was trying to push any religion on me. Or 3. Had any experience where she was rude. …. I think she’s been absolutely great, calling me back the SAME DAY I call, she’s always listens to what i say I feel I need. I also don’t see her as a “therapist” but she’s definitely great in my opinion! ….

Medications and Whiners.
The absolute best nurse practitioner I've had, as all I ever want is short talk and prescriptions filled from my previous diagnoses. I'm not going to complain about staff because I'm not trying to make friends when I go to an appointment, I'm just there for the appointment – so be blunt and precise with them and you'll be in and out. Vera herself is great because she always listens to what I'm feeling and my suggestions, and is always wiling to switch things up if it's not working. Also Marie is great, you're all just thin skinned.

I'm not a patient, but my fiancee is. She gets $80 cash per 12 minute session and makes my fiancee contact the insurance company to cover the meds that she prescribed. She doesn't accept alot of Insurance. Aren't medical professionals supposed to practice according to standards? That's absolutely ridiculous.

I was refereed to her over a year ago from a friend. I left a few voicemails & no return call. The last voicemail i left, i was pretty desperate sounding seeing that i have a few mental health issues & my primary is 1 hour away. I got a call back finally that day, & had an appt the following week. I have been going to her for a few months now & I have no issues getting in to see her at MY work schedule convenience and even last minute, same day appointments.. She listened to MY needs, She responds to my text messages . I def recommend her.

You'll notice that good reviews are older, from when the case load wasn't as heavy. The practice has taken on too many patients and can't manage them all as individuals any more. I got an incorrect diagnosis and offer of heavy meds for a mild issue and told to google what I want and ask at next appointment. I went to a follow up appointment and she didn't know my name, diagnosis, or treatment plan. That said, if you're in crisis she will get you in and see you, she has very flexible hours.

Vera Imperiale is different from many mainstream professionals. I find her approach refreshing, competent and helpful. She actually listened to what I said, treated me as an individual and respected my own knowledge of my own body. If you like cookie-cutter medicine, she is not for you. She holds the needs of her patient above the bureaucracy that has taken over our medical system. I think that's a good thing.

This person is dangerous. My daughter was under her care and was way over medicated. She gained almost 50lbs and couldn’t get out of bed. Thank god we found someone else, who told us the amount of meds prescribed would have been too much for a 300lb man, let alone a young girl. She also told my daughter to go on line and research meds and tell her which ones she thought would work for her!!

Doesn’t listen to her patients, hard to get in with and has a cabinet full of samples instead of writing prescriptions. Overmedicates instead of dealing with the patients complaints

I like Vera because she is very open to the patient guiding their own treatment as far as not wanting to take certain medications or wanting to try different things. Vera is a little hard to tack down when having a crisis, as she is busy and does offer samples of some medications that are newer and not as tried-and-true or researched.
