Initially felt great about our child’s intake and treatment plan. Ms. Carrice spent a total of 7-9 out of 20 months total treatment out of the office with no coverage and eventually just abruptly stopped treatment without any follow up care, effectively abandoning her clients. Upon her first return to the office we were given an ultimatum: disclose our child’s repressed trauma or stop therapy immediately. We didn’t think it was right but did it to continue therapy. Ms. Carrice responded by taking another 2 mo break effective that very day. The therapy seemed far more focused on the parents than child and the child later developed MDD, GAD, OCD, BDD and an eating disorder while on Ms. Carrice’s watch. At one point we inquired as to when to seek psychiatric medical intervention and were told that she (Ms. Carrice) didn’t believe in medicating a child. Eventually we were told that our child was “taking too long” to process their trauma and that their processing time didn’t “align with the practice’s mission statement to help as many kids as possible.” Victoria specifically recommended only a family based therapy approach to a now teen’s CSAM and the teen has no interest in talk about CSAM with parents there. The teen has zero interest in therapy now as teen’s last therapist (Ms. Carrice) abandoned them. As a result of the very specific referral for family based CSAM therapy we are unable to even find another therapist as literature does not support that approach to this trauma, thus, no one is trained in it. In short, the child is suffering more now than prior to Ms. Carrice’s involvement. She mailed the teen bubbles, play dough, a short letter and a Target gift card after she abandoned the teen. My teen asked if $5 at Target and some play dough would fix her cPTSD, threw it away then cried for hours.
