Brusque, uncaring, and judgmental
After a difficult birth I found her brusque, uncaring, and judgmental. She blamed me for my experience and minimized and dismissed me. She treats childbirth like a test of your womanhood. What hogwash. Her views on nutrition are orthorexic and unhealthy. And her beliefs about childbirth are outdated and not based in evidence (eg birth is painful because of your fears about it). For a woman who purports to be a feminist, I found her and her practice to provide the opposite experience and would never recommend her to anyone. Every year on my child’s birthday I am reminded of her and the painful mark she has left on my life. I wish so badly I had never been seduced by the empowering idea of childbirth she sold me on. It was a lie, and for future births I chose to have an OB and could not have been happier with that decision.
