Told me I was 'trying to get attention'
I don't know how this doctor hasn't been reviewed by the medical board yet. I had a memory assessment in March 2020 as a 31 year old who was experiencing severe memory challenges in daily life. Even though I scored below 25% percentile on over half the categories and the test was so difficult I was near tears, he told me I was 'obviously smart' and probably just scoring like this to get attention. Attention from whom??? He recommended I see a therapist for my behavior. I was showing signs of a panic attack in his office during this conversation yet he wrote in my notes that 'I showed no distress.' I brought this up with a neurologist (John Gibson) in his building who would not acknowledge my experience. Based on Gibson's response and the other reviews, I think Novant is well aware of Dr Acree's behavior and has chosen to look the other way. See ANYONE else.

Besides being arrogant and overall a hateful person, you can also add incompetent. Four years ago I went to him for a memory test and he basically said I was faking, what good does it do for anyone to fake a memory test. I was already on disability so that isn't going to be increased. I was tested two years later and was diagnosed with lewy body dementia so if he still has a job and you're referred to him RUN to avoid this loser.

I feel the same way. My husband scored in the 1 percentile on tests and he called them invalid since my husband was able to walk in on his own. He offered very little help and said his deterioration was due to depression. Not helpful at all since my husband’s symptoms are more serious than just depression.

Pathetic
My mother was diagnosed with Early Stages Alzheimer's in 2019. She declined medication that would help slow down its progression. No follow up appointment was suggested nor offered. We as a family have been navigating her decline on our own. Calls have been made for a reassessment to no avail. None can look at our mom, who no longer can walk/stand on her own and is down to one meal a day and tell us shes fine.

This was probably the worst experience I’ve had with a healthcare provider. Accused me of faking my results and then told me there was nothing wrong with me and that I had no reason to be there. Very apathetic to my situation, needs a career change if he is going to continue to treat patients like this.

Awful experience. He accused me of lying and trying to manipulate test results. When asked, he refused to discuss his reasoning and the results. He asked me why I was even there. I left his office feeling horrible about myself. One star is too many.

Horrible, he called my husband a liar, refused to fully explain test results, asked what we hoped to gain and refused to believe he has memory problems.
