Zachary Hasenwinkel, PA

I had a very bad torn rotator cuff - had surgery through OrthoIndy South. My doctor, Dr. Matt Lavery has an amazing PA, Zach Hasenwinkel. Zach was very kind and patient; he gave great explanations of my injury and recovery processes at each appointment. He was very thorough and never left the room until he was certain I was comfortable with my appointment outcomes. He was quick to respond to my FMLA updates.

The day before my surgery Zach calls to tell me my insurance did not approve part of my surgery. Insurance had sent decision 17 days before and had deadline for Zach to reply of 11 days. He failed to reply to my insurance before deadline and did not let me know this until day before surgery. Gave me the run around about what happened and told me he would call back within 1-3 days with more info. I finally had to call after 2 weeks! At this time he excitedly said “we are going to get you covered”. Yet, never heard from him again. The nurse finally called to schedule my surgery again, inly to find out Zach had mislead me and still had not even communicated with my insurance at all! He lied to me, dropped the ball on my case and failed to call when he said he would. I finally opted to switch to another practice….no way is a doc that has trust in Zach going to operate on me. Horrible horrible experience, Zach should be fired.
