Biography: Christopher B. Anderson, MD, Associate Professor of Urology at CUMC, joined the Department of Urology in September 2015. He specializes in cancers of the bladder, prostate, kidney, testis and penis and performs both open and robotic surgeries. Dr. Anderson completed his medical degree from Northwestern University, completed his urology residency at Vanderbilt University, and then spent two years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as a fellow in urologic oncology. Following his residency, Dr. Anderson completed a urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and obtained a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard University. Dr. Anderson's research interests include factors that influence the quality of surgery, access to care for patients with bladder cancer, outcomes after robotic prostatectomy, and active surveillance strategies for men with prostate cancer. Dr. Anderson has published several peer-reviewed articles and was recognized as "Best Reviewer" in 2014 by The Journal of Urology and in 2016 by Cancer. Dr. Anderson has clinical expertise in robotic prostatectomy for the treatment of prostate cancer, radical cystectomy with orthotopic neobladder for patients with bladder cancer, and partial nephrectomy for the treatment of kidney tumors. He also specializes in the multidisciplinary management of men with testicular cancer, including the use of primary and post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection. He is currently the site leader for several clinical trials investigating the use of immunotherapy in patients with invasive and non-invasive bladder cancer.

Sunghyun Yoon is the Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology and Vice-Chair of Surgical Oncology Research and Education in the Department of Surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC). Dr. Yoon is a national and international expert in the treatment of patients with sarcomas and other soft tissue tumors, gastric (stomach) and gastroesophageal cancers, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), and melanoma. He also has over 18 years of experience in the treatment of other gastrointestinal and abdominal tumors, hepatobiliary tumors, neuroendocrine/adrenal tumors, lymphomas, and spleen tumors. He has been the principal investigator of several clinical trials examining novel treatment strategies and given numerous invited national and international lectures in relation to these cancers. He has one of the world's largest experiences in performing prophylactic total gastrectomies for patients with hereditary diffuse gastric cancer (HDGC syndrome) secondary to germline CDH1 mutation. He pioneered a technique for connection of the small bowel to the esophagus after total gastrectomy that is used by former surgical trainees and colleagues throughout the country due to its extremely low leakage rate. Dr. Yoon graduated from Harvard University and received his M.D. from the University of California at San Diego. He completed his residency in general surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and his fellowship in surgical oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He was an Associate Professor of Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School before joining the staff at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in 2012. Dr. Yoon was an Attending Surgeon in the Division of Gastric and Mixed Tumors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and a Professor of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College before joining CUIMC in 2021. Dr. Yoon's main research interests are in cancer stem cells and targeted biological agents in combination with chemotherapy and radiation therapy. His laboratory has been funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute for 18 years and strives to translate new research discoveries into the clinic. Dr. Yoon is also part of multi-institution research groups funded by Stand Up To Cancer and the DeGregorio Family Foundation to discover early diagnostics and new therapies for gastric cancer. Biography: Dr. Izak Faiena MD, MSCR is a urologic oncologist with a specialized focus on prostate cancer. His expertise spans advanced diagnostic techniques, such as MRI fusion and transperineal biopsy, as well as cutting-edge treatments including focal therapy and robotic surgery. With a solid foundation from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, Dr. Faiena went on to complete his urology residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. During this time, he earned multiple research awards for his contributions to prostate and bladder cancer studies. Following his residency, Dr. Faiena pursued a fellowship in urologic oncology and earned a Master's in Clinical Research from the esteemed UCLA Institute of Urologic Oncology and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute. His work here garnered significant research funding and resulted in impactful publications on clinical trials in urologic cancers. Biography: Ayodeji O. Nubi, MD, is a board-certified surgeon specializing in open, laparoscopic and robotic-assisted general surgery. He completed his surgical residency training at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla and Advanced Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Prior to arrival in the United States, Dr. Nubi completed a surgical residency in the United Kingdom.Dr. Nubi has specific advanced training in acute care/ emergency general surgery, trauma, and critical care in the surgical setting. He has been in established hospital-based and elective practice in Pennsylvania and New York prior to his arrival to Columbia University. He is a published author, most recently having contributed to the textbook Pathophysiology and Management of Thoracic Injury.As part of the Center for Advanced Surgery, Dr. Nubi sees patients at the New York-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital.
