Biography: Amit Goyal, MD, FACC wants all patients of Premier Cardiovascular Institute to understand that plaque build-up can affect almost all parts of the body. Most people are aware of blockages in the heart blood vessels which lead to heart attacks or chest discomfort.When the arteries going to the arms, legs, kidneys and brain get blocked, it can lead to arm or leg pain, difficult to control blood pressure or strokes. Biography: Palaniappan Muthappan, MD, FACC, FSCAI, RPVI is an Interventional Cardiologist at Premier Cardiovascular Institute, the Cardiac Catheterization Lab director for Miami Valley Hospital and the Director of Structural Cardiology for Premier Health. Dr. Muthappan completed his medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis, graduating with highest honors. He was awarded the Steven Dressler Prize for commitment to humanitarianism in medicine and the Merck Scholar Prize for outstanding academic performance. He was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. After residency, he worked for Medecins sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders), running a hospital, outpatient clinic and starting a TB program at a refugee camp between government and rebel held territory in Sudan. Dr. Muthappan trained in Cardiology at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center at the University of Michigan, where he completed fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology with a focus on structural heart disease. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Echocardiography and has been elected to fellowship in the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and to the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI). He also is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) and has completed advanced training in Nuclear Cardiac Imaging. Dr. Muthappan specializes in treating patients with structural heart disease and high risk coronary disease. Dr. Muthappan has special expertise in aortic valve interventions (including TAVR), mitral valve interventions (including Mitraclip or mTEER), high-risk coronary interventions (including Left Main, atherectomy and CTO), PFO closure, ASD closure, left atrial appendage closureand percutaneous (minimally invasive) removal of cardiac masses. Biography: Kamran Riaz, MD, FACC earned medical degrees from King Edward Medical College, University of Punjab in Pakistan. From there, he went on to serve as a staff physician at the Mayo Hospital in Pakistan and several hospitals throughout the United Kingdom where he received membership in the Royal College of Physicians in London.
