Biography: As a child, I was intrigued with nursing. My aunt is a nurse, and I loved to read her textbooks and listen to her stories from work. That led me to start college as a nursing major. After my third year in nursing school, I felt that I needed to play a more active role in the formulation of a comprehensive plan of care; I decided that I should go to medical school after completing my undergraduate degree in bio-electrical engineering. That decision is what eventually led me to become a doctor. \n I love to listen to patients describe their concerns and then provide information so we can develop a plan of care together. That plan can promote their overall health or address a health concern. I enjoy seeing the same patients year after year, and developing a relationship where they feel comfortable asking questions, raising concerns or just sharing their life challenges. \n I am married with six adult children. My husband and I spend much of our time on our small farm, caring for our horses and chickens. I like to knit and sew clothing and costumes, and I also play guitar. Running, hiking and horseback riding keep me active. Another passion is my 1959 Corvette that love to drive on nice days.

Biography: I became a sports medicine physician because I love helping active people move without pain - from high school or recreational athletes to the pros. \n I have experience as team doctor for a range of skill levels, including the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League, as well as sports teams at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central University and High Point University. I was tournament physician for the Atlantic Coast Conference championship soccer finals in 2019. I am a member of the American Board of Family Medicine and have a certificate of added qualifications in sports medicine. \n I am a certified strength and conditioning specialist. This National Strength and Conditioning Association certification means I can design and evaluate strength and conditioning programs for your specific sport, position and primary training goal. This includes sprint training for track and field, resistance training for body building/gaining muscle mass and aerobic endurance training for cyclists and distance runners. \n While completing my medical training, I received several awards. They include the 2019 Society of Teachers of Family Medicine's Resident Teacher Award, the Ossur Americas Fellowship scholarship from the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the McGraw Hill Book Award for academic excellence in medical school. I am a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. \n I have participated in clinical trials investigating ultrasound-guided injections in the treatment of frozen shoulder and written papers on concussion evaluation/diagnostics and common medical concerns of female athletes. I have also published papers on the effectiveness of knee arthroscopy versus nonsurgical treatment of nontraumatic meniscus tears and on the use of the ultrasound in treating chronic tendon damage. \n My approach to healthcare is patient-centered. I use my medical knowledge to supplement your knowledge about your specific condition so that we can make informed decisions together. My focus is helping you obtain the highest quality, most affordable care possible. \n My wife, Morgan, and I welcomed a daughter, Charlie, in 2020. We are members of Emmanuel Church of Winston-Salem. We enjoy praying together, studying the Bible, taking walks, listening to music, dancing in the kitchen and enjoying all types of food. \n As a graduate of the University of Georgia, I am a devout Bulldogs fan. Since completing my training in sports medicine at UNC Chapel Hill, I have become a big fan of the Tar Heels, too. \n Finally, I enjoy deep-sea fishing and once reeled in a 5-foot bull shark in the Gulf of Mexico.
