Biography: Dr. Nicole Sandover (formerly Dr. Nicole Grocky) completed her undergraduate studies at James Madison University,where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Shereceivedher medical degree (M.D.) at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and BiomedicalSciences, where she was elected a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and was involved in research related to childhood obesity and preventive medicine.She was awarded the Frederick B. Wilkes Pediatric Award at the University at Buffalo.Dr. Sandover completed her pediatric residency training at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she was involved in research relating to the effectiveness of the influenza vaccine. Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medical Associates, Dr. Sandover worked in a private pediatric practice in Brooklyn. Dr. Sandover is a board-certified pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Care Philosophy: My approach to patient care is to listen to the patient intently and to commit my full attention to the patient's concerns. Very often the diagnosis becomes clear just from patient input and information. My main areas of interests include hepatitis and biliary problems. Inflammatory bowl disease is growing concern in Brooklyn, and HIV afflictions in our community and its impact on the bowel is a challenge to our speciality.

Biography: Dr. Mulhern received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University. She then went on to study animal behavior and ecology at the University of California at Berkeley where she completed a Masters degree. She returned to the east coast to the University of Connecticut School of Medicine where she received her MD degree. She completed her Internal Medicine residency training at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, Chapel Hill, in 1998, and has been working as a general internist in Manhattan since completion of her training.

Biography: Dr. Hermos is board-certified in Internal Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. After a brief stint as a ski instructor, Dr. Hermos received her Master's degree in Education at The University of Colorado, Boulder. She was a classroom teacher in Denver for several years before moving to New York in 2000. Dr. Hermos worked in the non-profit sector before deciding to study medicine. Dr. Hermos attended medical school and trained in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She has now been practicing primary care in New York City since completing her residency in 2013.

Care Philosophy: Before joining the staff of Weill Cornell Medical Associates, Dr. Smerd worked as a primary care doctor at the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Hospital and at Odyssey House, a therapeutic drug community in Spanish Harlem. She was named chief resident after completing her medical residency at New York University. Dr. Smerd studied medicine at the Sackler School of Medicine/NY State program in Tel Aviv, Israel. She has also lived in Kathmandu and traveled the countryside of Nepal researching Vitamin A deficiency. She earned her bachelor's degree from Vassar College, where she graduated with a major in Women's studies focusing on Anthropology. Though originally from Pittsburgh, Dr. Smerd now lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children.
