Dr. Shuman served as a research specialist at Yale University and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, focusing on cardiovascular therapies for myocardial infarction. His work has been published in journals such as Science Translational Medicine and Nature Materials and presented at medical conferences, including sessions by the American Heart Association and the European Heart Journal-Cardiovascular Imaging. Before joining us in 2024, Dr. Shuman practiced at Prisma Health Palmetto Family Medicine in Taylors, SC, and Prisma Health Reedy Family Medicine in Greenville, SC. His experience with older adults has reinforced his belief in listening deeply, managing chronic conditions such as obesity and diabetes, and addressing issues like loneliness and socialization. Dr. Shuman chose medicine to help others and serve his community. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, playing golf, listening to music, and spending time with his family.
