Biography: Medicine captured my imagination, admiration and appreciation very early on in my life. After a gymnastics sports injury as a teenager, I went from being immobile to competing again in the span of four months, thanks to my orthopedic surgeon. The experience felt like something close to magic. Needless to say, it had a lasting impact on me and was the catalyst for my pursuit of a career in medicine. \n I graduated medical school from the University of Tennessee in Memphis in 2012 and went on to do my OB-GYN residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. While I always knew medicine was my calling, my specific passion for women's health did not emerge until medical school. Experiencing first-hand the incredible privilege and responsibility involved with caring for women through all stages of life, and especially childbirth, was another formative experience in my life. \n Today, I seek to leverage my education, training and life experiences to benefit the care I provide to the community. My undergraduate degree in mathematics from University of Tennessee in Knoxville gives me a strong foundation for ensuring my patients are receiving the best, most current, data-proven treatments available. But I also know that data isn't all doctors should consider; medicine is about more than what numbers tell us. I learned this lesson early in my career on a medical mission trip to Haiti where the importance of listening and understanding a patient's background first was key to successful outcomes. In addition, serving as a member on the hospital's obstetrics operations group and the surgical operations committee I am able to impact meaningful policies that improve patient care and experience. \n My husband, Aubrey Parsley, and I have two young sons. My husband's family has strong ties to Wilmington, so we settled here in 2019 to raise and grow our family. While my days as a gymnast may be behind me, I continue to enjoy being physically active. It's pretty easy to do - all I have to do is put on sneakers and chase after my two very active boys. Baking is something I loved doing with my mother as a child, and I still enjoy it today. Now, I'm thrilled to be making new memories in the kitchen with my sons.

Biography: Nearly everyone has been impacted by cancer in some way. Whether cancer has struck you, or someone you love or care about, you likely have felt the impacts of this ailment. For me, it was my father's battle with cancer that had a profound effect on not just my personal life, but my career. His fight is what led me to specialize in oncology. When I was in medical school, I recognized a pressing need to elevate women's health in medicine, leading me to the gynecologic oncology specialty. \n I am honored to serve women in our community, both as a clinician and as the medical director of the genetics program for the Novant Health Cancer Institute. Women in our community deserve leading-edge treatments and personalized care. I am dedicated to providing that to each patient at every encounter. \n Patients also benefit from my ongoing commitment to research. I have studied how to improve or lessen side effects of chemotherapy and have also studied CAR T-cell therapy. Whenever possible, I participate in clinical trials for gynecologic cancers, so my patients can take advantage of the very latest developments in the field. \n Outside of work, my family occupies most of my time. I am also an avid Philadelphia sports fan and watch games whenever I can.

Biography: As a small child, I wanted to be a doctor but didn't know what kind. I assumed I'd practice internal or family medicine. \n Ironically, when I started medical school, I said I would never be an ob-gyn. My mother laughed, and said, "Never say never." \n When I started my clinical rotations, I found this specialty to be the perfect fit. I found I missed it when I was doing other rotations. Of course, my mother enjoyed saying, "I knew it all along" when I called toward the end of my third year to tell her I'd decided to go into obstetrics and gynecology. \n I pride myself on delivering personalized care to each patient. My strongest attribute in my professional life (which also serves me well in my personal life) is that I'm a good listener. I've been told by several patients throughout the years that I'm the only doctor they feel has ever truly listened and was, therefore, able to fix or significantly improve whatever health issue they were having. \n While I was a resident, I served on the board of the Mississippi Medical Association for two years. \n Originally from Mississippi, I grew up in the Delta as the oldest of five children. I made my way to Asheville, North Carolina, for high school and went to the College of Charleston for undergrad before returning to Mississippi for my medical training. \n After completing training, I took a job in High Point, North Carolina, as an ob-gyn and worked there for three years before moving to Wilmington in 2019. I met my husband in the area - at Wrightsville Beach - when we were in high school, but we didn't start dating for another decade. Today, we have two young children and a third on the way. \n When I have free time, I enjoy spending it with my family, as well as hiking, fishing and baking. I'm active in our church and hope to one day - when life is a little slower - take up drawing again.
