He presents multiple surgical and non-surgical approaches, recognizing that there are benefits and risks to each option. His goal is for every patient to develop trust in him as a surgeon and educator, and be comfortable with their own level of understanding of their condition and options. Dr. Vernon has worked hard to build a reputation of being a conservative surgeon, one who has good bedside manner, pays attention to details, and executes surgery safely by being meticulous and technically proficient in the operating room. For patients, this translates into good outcomes, including alleviation of pain and return to improved functioning. Overall, it makes him proud when patients are happy with their treatment. He is married with 2 children and 3 dogs. He enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and hiking in the wilderness. The teenager in him still likes fast cars with deep, growling engines.
