Despite how common these issues are, women are often hesitant to discuss them with their physician. Dr. Volpe understands the sensitive, personal nature of these conditions and is honored to guide her patients through their many options from holistic and complementary therapies to minimally invasive surgeries.

Biography: Dr. Lam is a general obstetrician and gynecologist.She is passionate about providing comprehensive care for patients throughout their reproductive life cycle. Dr. Lam believes that compassionate care and evidence-based medicine can help guide women through these stages of their lives.Her clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery, normal and high-risk pregnancies, adolescent medicine, and family planning. She also manages ovarian cysts, gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension, pelvic pain, sexually transmitted diseases, uterine fibroids, urinary tract infections, menopausal symptoms, and other conditions.Among the procedures she performs in the office are pap smears, colposcopy (examination of the cervix, vagina, and vulva), and LEEP (loop electrosurgical excision procedure to remove abnormal tissue from the cervix). In the operating room, she performs laparoscopy, hysteroscopy (internal examination of the cervix and uterus), myomectomy (surgical removal of uterine fibroids), and hysterectomy (surgical removal of the uterus) procedures.Dr. Lam has conducted research on fertility counseling and treatment in young adult cancer survivors. She also has contributed to a study of abnormal uterine bleeding.She has made several presentations to her peers at national conferences such as the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, American Association of Blood Banks, and European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. Topics include racial differences in birth outcomes among women undergoing ovulation induction as well as fertility services for adolescents and young adults with cancer. Dr. Lam has published peer-reviewed articles in the Journal of Women's Health and the journal Fertility and Sterility.She has earned honors including the Recognition of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology Award and the Excellence in Family Planning Award along with recognition for her achievements in teaching and research.She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and American Medical Association.Other interests of Dr. Lam include spending time with family and friends, tennis, yoga, and travel.

Biography: Dr. Elizabeth Buescher is a subspecialist in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. She is skilled in the use of the laser, cystoscopy, operative hysteroscopy, and advanced laparoscopy. She completed a two year fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at the Center for Special Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery with Dr. Camran Nezhat. She is passionate about women's health and enjoys solving gynecologic problems. She has co-authored numerous text book chapters and medical journal articles. She has presented her research both nationally and in Canada. Prior to her career in medicine, Dr. Buescher obtained a Masters in Education from Notre Dame. She also helps teach the gynecology section for Stanford's physician assistant students.
