Care Philosophy: Due to his keen interest in autoimmunity, and immune system dysregulation throughout his undergraduate and graduate training, Dr. Ursani pursued his fellowship training in Rheumatology via the Baylor College of Medicine at the world renown Texas Medical Center. During his time in fellowship, he was chosen as one of the top 40 nationally recognized Rheumatology Fellows In Training to participate in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound training through the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists. He is certified in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound by the American College of Rheumatology. He also received a certification in clinical densitometry from the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. Due to his interest in bone health, he focused his research during fellowship on osteoporosis in patients with a history of breast cancer at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Biography: Dr. Fiore is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in hand surgery. He initially developed his interest in hand surgery after fracturing his wrist, wrestling for the Duke University Blue Devils. Forced to undergo surgery and placed in a cast for several weeks, he truly recognized the profound impact having a hand injury can have on a persons physical, emotional, and financial well being. After obtaining his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine he entered general surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry-NJ Medical School where he achieved both local and national recognition in his ability to teach (see curriculum vitae). This teaching ability translated well with his doctor/patient relationships as most patients found him able to break down a complex condition and make it more understandable. Graduating from residency, he proceeded to acquire additional training in hand surgery from the Baylor College of Medicine accredited fellowship where he performed well over 500 operations. The training was diverse to say the least and included elective, non emergent hand surgery as well as limb threatening or mangling trauma. Upon graduation he was invited to stay as faculty for which he was hired as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery. It was a productive year clinically (performed about 400 procedures) as well as academically as he literally wrote the chapter on hand surgery which he co-authored in Sabistons Textbook of Surgery 18th edition.

Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Oklahoma with honors and then received his medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine, graduating with highest honors and was granted admission into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He received his orthopaedic training at Scott & White Hospital and continued with advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at The University of Chicago. During his training, he worked directly under Dr. Daniel Mass, one of the world's leading experts in tendon injury and upper extremity surgery. He returned to the Tomball/Woodlands area after being an associate professor of upper extremity surgery at Scott & White Hospital. There he instructed residents and young surgeons on the latest techniques and trauma care for upper extremity injuries. Throughout his career, he has learned, performed and researched the most advanced, cutting-edge techniques in hand and upper extremity care providing care for several Major League Baseball teams and serving as one of the team physicians for the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks. Currently, he takes care of the entire spectrum of upper extremity injuries and enjoys the multidisciplinary approach of orthopedic treatment at Texas Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine. He continues to be very active in the community and assists in athletic coverage for several local high schools and organizations: Cypress-Creek, Dekaney, Klein, Klein Forest, Klein Collins, Waller, Magnolia, Magnolia West, and Tomball high schools.
