Biography: Ricardo Vargas, MD, says that ever since a magical Christmas in Puerto Rico as a boy when he received a doctor's kit under the tree, he has known he wanted to be a physician. That belief was strengthened during medical school, when he recognized he had a gift of empathizing with those who are sick or hurting.
