Biography: Dr. Tochukwu Onyekwelu is a general surgeon with a background in robotic surgery and a broad spectrum of surgical diseases and trauma. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina, and subsequently completed a post-doctoral residency in general surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern/Parkland. Prior to getting his MD, Dr. Onyekwelu earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors from South Carolina State University. Dr. Onyekwelu is passionate about collaborative care with an emphasis on shared decision making.

Biography: Dr. Sharma is a leading radiation oncologist, specializing in head and neck cancer. He obtained his medical degree from J. N. Medical College and completed his residency at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Dr. Sharma did a fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital and has been practicing in Charleston since 2001. Prior to his training in Radiation Oncology, he was trained as an ENT surgeon in India. Dr. Sharma has special interest and expertise in the treatment of complex head and neck cancer patients, particularly re-irradiation of patients previously treated with radiation therapy.

Biography: Dr. Martin Hardy, DO is a General Surgery Specialist who practices in Charleston, SC. He is 41 years old and has been practicing for 11 years. Dr. Martin Hardy, DO is affiliated with Trident Medical Center and Trident Health System-Summerville Medical Center.

Biography: Dr. MacDowell has served as a radiation oncologist with Trident Health since 1993 and has played an important role in the development of Trident Cancer Center over the past two decades. While she treats many kinds of cancer with radiation therapy, Dr. MacDowell's specialties include targeting breast cancer. She received her doctorate of medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina and served as chief resident for MUSC's Department of Radiation Oncology during her residency. She is board-certified in radiation oncology.

Biography: I knew I wanted to go into healthcare as a young child. I got involved in medicine in high school. In college, I worked as a nursing assistant to gain more experience in the healthcare field. It was in medical school that I developed a passion for obstetrics and gynecology (ob-gyn) and, beyond that, chose to specialize in gynecological cancer. \n Every day that I care for patients, I continue to learn. I am a member of various gynecologic associations and serve on the community board for Lydia's Legacy, an organization that supports education, awareness and research funding for gynecologic cancers. \n I look at and treat each patient as if she were a member of my family. That is the reason I strive to introduce a level of humanism and warmth to each visit and help put my patients' minds at ease. But above all else, I put honesty first. In my field, I do not always have good news to discuss with my patients. Honesty and compassion can help a patient and her family formulate realistic expectations, which is extremely important during the course of care. \n My husband and I live in Charlotte with our two girls and dogs, Paco and Maui. We absolutely love being outdoors, enjoy spending time by the pool, spending time in the mountains, and taking trips to the beautiful Carolina beaches with our family.
