Biography: Peter Recupero, DO, is a board-certified internal medicine physician and nephrologist with LewisGale Physicians at the internal medicine academic clinic in Christiansburg, Virginia. He is affiliated with LewisGale Montgomery Hospital where he serves as the program-designated institutional official and core faculty member in the internal medicine residency program. As an attending physician of an academic medicine clinic at LewisGale Physicians, he supervises resident physicians, training them to be the next generation of physician leaders. Dr. Recupero earned his Doctor of Osteopathy from Kansas City College of Medicine and Bioscience in Kansas City, Missouri followed by a residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Storrs, Connecticut, and a fellowship in Nephrology from Main Medical Center in Portland, Maine. He also received an MBA from Virginia Tech University. Dr. Recupero is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, and the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. In addition, he serves as an associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) in Blacksburg, Virginia, and has held various committee appointments at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery. Outside of the practice, and teaching Dr. Recupero enjoys walking his dogs and raising chickens.
