Biography: My focused experience in all areas of digestive health provides Digestive Health Specialists, PA and my patients with experience that can be counted on. I was born in Birmingham, Alabama and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. I earned my B.A. degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and my MD degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. I completed my internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where I also completed my Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. My clinical interests include Celiac Disease, general Gastroenterology and Colon Cancer Prevention.

Biography: While an unforeseen surgical need is never wanted, Christopher Hunter, MD, is happy to be there for his patients should they have one. He chose to become a surgeon because it gave him the opportunity to help others. Dr. Hunter enjoys abdominal surgeries, but especially loves being able to help his patients during surgical emergencies. He is passionate about identifying patients' problems, fixing them and helping them feel better. Dr. Hunter is thrilled to have found a work home at Novant Health Salem Surgical Associates. Married with two young sons, Dr. Hunter stays busy outside of work spending time with his family being outdoors and exploring Winston-Salem together.

Biography: Dr. John Weathers, MD is an Internist who practices in Clemmons, NC. He is 43 years old and has been practicing for 17 years. Dr. John Weathers, MD is affiliated with Novant Winston-Salem NC.

Biography: James Spencer, MD, has been practicing family medicine for more than 25 years. Dr. Spencer went into medicine because of his passion of helping others. He chose family medicine because he loves the variety and continuity of care for the whole family. Dr. Spencer sees that continuity of care and understanding each patient's individual needs as keys to successful outcomes. He strives to work as a team with each individual to solve complex problems. Outside of work, Dr. Spencer's three daughters keep him busy. They enjoy family outings and soccer games. In his free time Dr. Spencer enjoys racquetball and running.

Biography: As a child, I was intrigued with nursing. My aunt is a nurse, and I loved to read her textbooks and listen to her stories from work. That led me to start college as a nursing major. After my third year in nursing school, I felt that I needed to play a more active role in the formulation of a comprehensive plan of care; I decided that I should go to medical school after completing my undergraduate degree in bio-electrical engineering. That decision is what eventually led me to become a doctor. \n I love to listen to patients describe their concerns and then provide information so we can develop a plan of care together. That plan can promote their overall health or address a health concern. I enjoy seeing the same patients year after year, and developing a relationship where they feel comfortable asking questions, raising concerns or just sharing their life challenges. \n I am married with six adult children. My husband and I spend much of our time on our small farm, caring for our horses and chickens. I like to knit and sew clothing and costumes, and I also play guitar. Running, hiking and horseback riding keep me active. Another passion is my 1959 Corvette that love to drive on nice days.
