Biography: If there is one thing I would like each of my patients to know about me, it's that I am wholly dedicated to their well-being. Reducing pain and improving mobility are my primary goals, and I am proud to achieve these using the most advanced treatments available. \n Since my residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program, preserving and replacing joints has been my passion. I want to benefit not only the patients I treat, but the field of orthopedics as a whole. Through multiple publications and presentations, I have been able to share research that has benefitted patients and providers worldwide. \n I love calling the Lowcountry home. Building a regional center of excellence for hip and knee replacements will be an achievement that will benefit our area for generations to come.

Biography: Trident Health System is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. George Pappas to the medical staff. Dr. Pappas has joined South Carolina Sports Medicine in North Charleston. He received his undergraduate degree from M.I.T and his medical degree from Stanford University. Dr. Pappas completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery from the Harvard Combined Orthopaedics Residency Program and his fellowship from Stanford University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.Before his medical career, Dr. Pappas worked at the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California. He constructed an altered-gravity treadmill exercise device based on lower-body differential pressure and co-developed a mathematical model of skeletal muscle adaptation to mechanical loading. He has received over eight honors from organizations including NASA, United States Air Force and Stanford National Institute of Health.
