Biography: Dr. Everton began her medical career serving military members and their families. After completing medical school at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD, Dr. Everton interned at Scott Air Force base in Illinois, then completed a family medicine residency at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. She came to Barksdale Air Force base in 1994 where she quickly rose to Director of Emergency Services. Her career took her to Portugal, then to Alabama and New York before she chose to return to Shreveport-Bossier as a professor in family medicine and comprehensive care at LSU Health Sciences Center. Dr. Everton came to the Willis-Knighton Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care Center in 2012, where she has dedicated herself to improving the quality of life for patients. She wants her patients to know that they will be listened to, cared for as an integral part of the healthcare team.

Biography: Tymwa Dixon, M.D. has a passion for family medicine. As a child, he became intrigued with the idea of caring for people of all ages. He pursued his goal of becoming a physician throughout his academic career, starting at Caddo Magnet High School in Shreveport. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana Tech University and then his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport. He completed a residency in family medicine at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. Dr. Dixon has developed expertise in treating chronic diseases and acute disease states such as hypertension, diabetes and hyperlipidemia; and is fully qualified to care for all patients from children to the elderly. Dr. Dixon and his wife have three children and make their home in Shreveport.

Biography: Dr. Halim Abou-Faycal is certified in Infectious Diseases Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Since his graduation from medical school in June of 2000, Dr. Abou-Faycal has continued to pursue advanced training in internal medicine and infectious diseases medicine. He practiced at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Tennessee, where he rose to Senior resident. In July of 2004, Dr. Abou-Faycal began his fellowship training in infectious diseases at The University of Texas-MD Anderson Cancer Center, during which he received specialized training in treating infections in bone marrow and solid organ cancer and transplant patients. His practice took him to Colorado from 2006-2009, where he was attending physician in internal medicine and infectious diseases at Sterling Regional Medical Center. Before coming to Willis-Knighton Health System in 2012, Dr. Abouy-Faycal served as Chairman of Infection Control and Medical Director for the infectious diseases department at St. Edwards Mercy Hospital in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He lives in Shreveport with his wife and two children.

Biography: R. Shane Barton, MD, MBA, MPH, MS, FAAOS, FAOA, FACS, returns to the Willis Knighton Physician Network and The Orthopaedic Clinic to continue his practice in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. He will serve as executive medical director of Willis Knighton Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation. Dr. Bartons clinical expertise ranges from nonoperative sports medicine to complex operative reconstruction of the shoulder, elbow and knee, and in addressing medical issues of athletes. A native of East Texas, he graduated as a Presidential Endowed Scholar from Texas A&M University, working as a computer engineer with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. At NASA, he was awarded multiple research honors for his work in robotic vision and image processing. He then attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, graduating with honors as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He went on to Harvard Medical School-Massachusetts General Hospital, where he finished his fellowship training in shoulder and sports medicine in 2005, serving as the assistant team physician for the New England Patriots. While there, he served as a graduate clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School. In addition, Dr. Barton earned a Master of Public Health degree at LSU Health/LSU Shreveport and completed an MBA and Master of Science in Healthcare Management and Leadership at University of Texas at Dallas and UT Southwestern Medical School. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, with additional board certification in sports medicine. Dr. Barton has served patients in the Ark-La-Tex since 2005. He maintains an academic appointment as Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at LSU Health Shreveport where he was previously Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. Through the years, he has served as team physician for many regional sports clubs and schools. Dr. Barton is also a commissioned reserve deputy with the Caddo Parish Sheriffs Office, and a tactical medical director for Caddo Parish Sheriffs Office and for the Louisiana State Police SWAT team. He is the holder of several medical device patents. He has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, co-authored a book, written book chapters, and presented nationally and internationally. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Barton finds great joy in his personal life with his wife, Tammy, and his two children, Ethan (Olivia) and Ella Grace.
