Biography: J. Gregory Mears, M.D. is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. After receiving a B.S. at Trinity College, Dr. Mears obtained an M.D. at The College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. He undertook his Internal Medicine residency at Boston University Medical Center and his Hematology-Medical Oncology fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center.Dr. Mears' early career was research based and involved studies of the molecular genetics of disorders of hemoglobin as well as chronic myelogenous leukemia. For the past 25 years Dr. Mears has maintained a clinical practice caring for people with blood disorders with an emphasis on leukemia, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and multiple myeloma. Dr. Mears has a strong clinical interest in women with breast cancer and is the Medical Director of the OctoberWoman Foundation.Additionally, Dr. Mears is pursuing clinical research in the fields of Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma as well as breast cancer. Biography: Evan P. Trupia, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. Dr. Trupia is an expert in advanced operative and non-operative care for issues of the hand and upper extremity, utilizing the latest surgical techniques, including minimally invasive arthroscopy and modern methods to reconstruct or replace arthritic joints. He also cares for fractures and general orthopedic trauma of the upper and lower extremities. After receiving a BS in Biology from Loyola University, Dr. Trupia graduated from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Columbia University Medical Center and his fellowship in surgery of the hand and upper extremity at New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases. As an artist and former collegiate athlete, Dr. Trupia appreciates that seemingly minor orthopedic injuries can have a tremendous impact on a patient's ability to perform activities of daily life, occupation, and recreation. He therefore individualizes his treatment plans for each patient to maximize function, alleviate pain, and ultimately improve their quality of life. As an active clinician scientist, Dr. Trupia has a particular interest in developing novel techniques to improve outcomes after upper extremity trauma. His research has been published in several medical journals, including Techniques in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery and Hand. Dr. Trupia delivers lectures to local and national audiences, including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and his medical illustrations have been published in numerous scientific texts and journals.

Biography: Dr. Mark T. Langhans is a second-generation fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports related injuries of both athletes and non-athletes alike at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley. He is also an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Langhans completed his undergraduate work at the University of Notre Dame where he graduated with a degree in biochemistry with honors. He was awarded a National Institutes of Health training grant to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Scientist Training Program where he completed a PhD in molecular genetics and developmental biology in a the Center for Cellular and Molecular Engineering in addition to his MD. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for his clinical excellence in medical school. His orthopedic surgery residency was completed at the Hospital for Special Surgery followed by a sports medicine and shoulder fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. In addition to his training in the United States, Dr. Langhans has also trained with European experts in shoulder surgery at the Institute de Chirugie Reparatrice (Nice, France). Dr. Langhans has extensive experience caring for athletes of all levels from high school and college to professional and weekend warrior. At the Mayo Clinic, he served as an assistant team physician for the Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA) and the Minnesota Twins (MLB). Additionally, he served as head team physician for the Austin Bruins (NAHL) and the Rochester Grizzlies (NA3HL). His clinical and research interests are focused on the development of personalized medicine approaches for orthopedic conditions. To this end, he offers a full spectrum of orthopedic care that includes cellular therapy, biologics, joint preservation techniques, minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques, and joint replacement. He has presented his research at national and international meetings. He serves as a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the Orthopedic Research Society (ORS), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).
