Biography: Saira Rana, MD, FACOG, is an obstetrician and gynecologist with StoneSprings OB/GYN in Dulles and Gainesville, Virginia, and is affiliated with StoneSprings Hospital Center. Dr. Rana earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from Fatima Jinnah Medical University in Pakistan. She then completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, and general surgery at University of Illinois in Chicago. With nearly two decades of experience as an OB/GYN, Dr. Rana offers comprehensive OB/GYN services to women of all ages and life stages. She provides annual well woman exams, contraception counseling and management, the diagnosis and treatment of infertility conditions, pregnancy care, and labor and delivery. In addition to the full scope of routine obstetrics and gynecology, she is expertly trained in minimally invasive and robotic gynecologic surgeries including the management of spontaneous and operative vaginal delivery, cesarean section and cesarean hysterectomy, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, cystectomy, and laparoscopic hysterectomy. Care Philosophy: I try very hard to place myself in the patient's situation. That type of perspective allows me to see and hear their needs. It also allows me to present alternatives in a clearer way that the patient can appreciate. My other technique is to pretend that the patient is my sister or mother. How would I want my loved one to be treated? Those two perspectives help me to be a better listener.
