Biography: Dr. Nikhil Uppal is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology. He is the Site Director for Hematology/Oncology at NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital. He has experience with clinical and translational research studies and a special interest in pancreatic malignancies and lymphomas. Dr. Uppal sees patients at both the Weill Cornell Upper East Side and Lower Manhattan Campuses, and is accepting new patients.Dr. Uppal completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Rochester and his Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Strong Memorial University Hospital. Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medicine, Dr. Uppal worked for New York University Langone Arena Oncology. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American Society of Hematology (ASH).

Care Philosophy: Dr. Pierro is a board-certified pediatric hematologist/oncologist. She completed medical school at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine followed by residency and chief residency in Pediatrics here at Staten Island University Hospital. She then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at NYU Langone Health and remained on their faculty before returning to Staten Island University Hospital. Her research in relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia was supported by Young Investigator grants from both the St. Baldrick s and Alex s Lemonade Stand Foundations. She is an active member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Oncology, and the American Society of Pediatric Hematology Oncology as well as a mentee in the Young Investigators Program in the Children s Oncology Group.Dr. Pierro provides clinical evaluations and treatments for a wide variety of hematologic and oncologic problems in patients spanning the newborn period through 21 years of age. She specializes in the care of patients with leukemia, lymphoma and solid tumors as well as a variety of non-cancerous blood disorders such as anemia, low white blood cell counts, low platelet counts, bleeding disorders, clotting disorders and sickle cell disease.As a native Staten Islander, Dr. Pierro is particularly proud to serve her community. She appreciates the hardships families face when their child requires treatment for cancer or a serious blood disorder and strives to provide quality, patient- and family- focused care close to home.
