Biography: Jeffrey Milsom, MD, FACS, has unique expertise and unparalleled experience in minimally invasive surgery for complex colorectal diseases.Dr. Milsom is the lead inventor of the endoluminal surgical platform, commercially known as the DiLumen, which stabilizes the colon to allow for endoscopic procedures of greater complexity, thereby avoiding surgery for some patients.He has performed close to 2,000 laparoscopic colon and rectal operations, and has been invited to perform surgeries in over 15 countries. From 1990 to 1998, he was the Director of Research, Department of Colorectal Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and from 1997 through 1998 he was also the Director of Research, Minimally Invasive Surgery Center at the Cleveland Clinic. In April 1998, Dr. Milsom became a Professor of Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, Chief of the Division of Colorectal Surgery and Co-Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery.Reflecting his strong interest and expertise, Dr. Milsom currently serves as an active member of the hospital's Operating Room New Technology Committee and the Minimal Access Surgical Committee. Biography: A board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Otterburn has received numerous honors and awards in academics, teaching and research. He received his B.A. in political science with honors from Rutgers University while entering into the BA/MD program at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. After completing his general surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, plastic surgery residency at Emory University and microsurgery fellowship at New York University Medical Center, he joined the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine in 2011. He served as Associate Program Director for 8 years before assuming the Directorship in 2019. His research interests include outcomes research in breast reconstruction, orthoplastics, neuroplastics, wound healing and peripheral nerve reconstruction.David Otterburn, MD, FACS, is a Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. Zoccali is a minimally invasive surgeon with extensive expertise in the treatment of the broad range of colorectal diseases including IBD, colon and rectal cancers, and benign colorectal diseases. He received his medical degree at the Catholic University in Rome, Italy where he also completed his surgical training. He then came to the USA where he did a Minimally Invasive Gastrointestinal Surgery Fellowship at the University of Chicago followed by a surgical residency at Weill Cornell Medical Center. He then completed his Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship at the University of Chicago. Although committed to managing the entire spectrum of pathologies that can affect the lower intestinal tract, his personal interest lies mostly in minimally invasive approaches to colorectal conditions including the robotic platform and the management of inflammatory bowel diseases. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Zoccali is also a prolific researcher. He has published more than 50 articles in major surgical journals including The Journal of The American College of Surgeons, The British Journal of Surgery and Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and has contributed to several book chapters.
