Biography: Koji Takeda, MD, PhD is a cardiac surgeon and Surgical Director for Adult Heart Transplant at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Takeda has a focus on heart failure, heart transplant surgery and mechanical circulatory support through ventricular assist devices (VADs). In addition to his clinical work, he is an active researcher in all of these areas, as well as in cardiac regeneration therapy. Dr. Takeda completed his medical training, post-graduate training, residency and fellowship in Osaka, Japan, after which he completed an advanced cardiovascular surgery fellowship at Northwestern University, Chicago. Biography: Dr. Elaine Wan is the Esther Aboodi Associate Professor of Medicine in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at Columbia University Medical Center, College of Physicians and Surgeons and attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She is trained in Internal Medicine, Clinical Cardiology and is an invasive cardiac electrophysiologist. She is also a recipient of the American Heart Association Scientist Development Grant, grant support from the Foundation of Gender Specific Medicine, Columbia University Louis V. Gerstner Jr. Scholars Program, and Columbia University Provost's Grants Program for Junior Faculty who Contribute to the Diversity Goals of the University. Biography: Dr. Noa Zemer Wassercug is a board-certified cardiologist with expertise in adult congenital heart disease. She is an assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and an assistant attending cardiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP). Dr. Zemer Wassercug's clinical expertise is focused on adult congenital heart echocardiography and pregnancy management in women with congenital heart disease. Biography: Giora Weisz, MD, is an Associate Professor in Clinical Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and serves as the Director of the cardiac Cath Lab at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. He graduated from the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel, and completed his residency in internal medicine and cardiology fellowship at the Carmel Medical Center in Haifa, Israel. Dr. Weisz finished his interventional cardiology training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Weisz focuses on current and innovative technologies. Dr. Nazif specializes in interventional cardiology and the treatment of heart valve disease. Dr. Nazif attended Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, did his residency at University of California, San Francisco Department of Medicine, San Francisco, CA, and his fellowship in interventional cardiology and Structural Heart Disease at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Biography: Kelly Axsom, MD is a cardiologist, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with advanced heart failure including those requiring left ventricular assist device or cardiac transplantation. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, General Cardiology, Echocardiography, and Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation. Dr. Axsom received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical Center where she was also the Chief Medical Resident. She completed her Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at NYU Medical Center where she served as Chief Fellow. She completed her advanced training in advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac assist devices and transplantation at Weill Cornell and Columbia University Medical Centers. Dr. Axsom is currently Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology, Center for Advanced Cardiac Care of the Columbia University Medical Center. Her clinical and research interests include the acute care and chronic management of patients with heart failure, comprising a combined goal of reducing hospitalizations and improving the transition of care from the in-patient to the out-patient setting. Dr. Axsom is leading the clinical initiative for the continuous hemodynamic monitoring of these patients at Columbia University Medical Center.

Biography: Mathew S. Maurer, MD - Dr. Maurer is a general internist and geriatric cardiologist with advanced training in heart failure and cardiac transplantation. He is the Arnold and Arlene Goldstein Professor of Cardiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons, where directs the Clinical Cardiovascular Research Laboratory for the Elderly (CCRLE). Dr. Maurer is a member of the Advanced Cardiac Care Center at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital Columbia Campus. He is the Director of the Cardiac Amyloidosis Program.He has published over 300 articles including peer reviewed manuscripts, reviews and book chapters. He was Chair of the American College of Cardiology's Geriatric Cardiology Member Section, which is the largest organization dedicated to advancing the care of older adults with cardiovascular disease. He was co-chair of the Steering Committee of the ATTR-ACT trial showing tafamidis was a safe and effective therapy for transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy. Biography: Dr. Gabriel Sayer is the Associate Director of Advanced Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory support at NewYork-Presbyterian. In this role, Dr. Sayer provides leadership and oversight for the comprehensive heart failure services provided across NewYork-Presbyterian, including the campuses in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Westchester. Dr. Sayer attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by Internal Medicine residency at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He completed Cardiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center and his Advanced Heart Failure fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to joining NewYork-Presbyterian in 2019, Dr. Sayer worked at the University of Chicago for six years, where he was the Associate Director of the Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Cardiac Transplantation programs. In addition to his extensive clinical experience in all aspects of heart failure, Dr. Sayer has published nearly 100 peer-reviewed articles in the field of advanced heart failure.
