Biography: Koji Takeda, MD, PhD is a cardiac surgeon and Surgical Director for Adult Heart Transplant at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Takeda has a focus on heart failure, heart transplant surgery and mechanical circulatory support through ventricular assist devices (VADs). Biography: Dr. Elaine Wan is the Esther Aboodi Associate Professor of Medicine in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at Columbia University Medical Center, College of Physicians and Surgeons and attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She is trained in Internal Medicine, Clinical Cardiology and is an invasive cardiac electrophysiologist. She is the Director of Electrophysiology Research and oversees all electrophysiology clinical trials. She performs implantation of cardiac devices including pacemaker and defibrillators, as well as ablation of arrhythmias. Dr. Wan is a physician-scientist and focuses on development of novel treatments for heart failure, vascular dysfunction and arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation. She is a translational researcher also interested in development of innovative imaging modalities to improve ablation delivery. Dr. Wan is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Biography: Mathew S. Maurer, MD - Dr. Maurer is a general internist and geriatric cardiologist with advanced training in heart failure and cardiac transplantation. He is the Arnold and Arlene Goldstein Professor of Cardiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons, where directs the Clinical Cardiovascular Research Laboratory for the Elderly (CCRLE). Dr. Maurer is a member of the Advanced Cardiac Care Center at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital Columbia Campus. He is the Director of the Cardiac Amyloidosis Program.He has published over 300 articles including peer reviewed manuscripts, reviews and book chapters. Biography: Dr. Gabriel Sayer is the Associate Director of Advanced Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory support at NewYork-Presbyterian. In this role, Dr. Sayer provides leadership and oversight for the comprehensive heart failure services provided across NewYork-Presbyterian, including the campuses in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Westchester. Dr. Sayer attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by Internal Medicine residency at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He completed Cardiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center and his Advanced Heart Failure fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.
