I like to say ultimately the patient is the captain of their own ship and my job is to inform them and to help guide them.``

I consider myself an advocate for my patient in that I give them the guidance they need to make their own healthcare decision whether it be for obstetrics or gynecology."

Care Philosophy: "I believe women should know everything about their medical care so I try to educate and have a conversation about what their goals are. I also lay out all the potential options that they might have so they can make their own decision regarding treatment."

Care Philosophy: ``My philosophy of care is family-centered. I really appreciate both the parents' input and the kids' input, once they're old enough to give it. It really helps me with the decision-making process. I also feel that to have a healthy child you have to have a healthy family so I focus on making sure every member of a household is on a path towards wellness.``

Care Philosophy: ``My philosophy of care would be to include the parents and the kids, when they're old enough, in the decision-making process regarding their health care. As far as antibiotics or other medications, I tend to turn to them only when I feel it is absolutely necessary for a patient's well-being.``

Biography: Dr. Nelson is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She received her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and completed residency training at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
