Biography: Dr. Poole is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with a subspecialty of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology with a minor in Spanish. He then earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his residency, specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. In 2015, Dr. Poole completed his fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Prior to joining El Paso Maternal Fetal Medicine, Dr. Poole served as the Medical Director of Labor and Delivery, Co-chair for the Perinatal Advisory Board, Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division Research Lead, and Associate Residency Program Director at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth as an officer of the United States Navy. Dr. Poole has been featured in a number of publications for his research on maternal-fetal health. In 2016, he was recognized as the APGO/CREOG Teacher of the Year. Other recognitions include second place awards for oral presentation at ACOG Armed Forces District in 2018 and for his oral presentation at Quality Symposium at Naval Medical Center on reduction of severe postpartum hemorrhage in 2019. Dr. Poole is affiliated with The Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and is a fellow of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He also board certified in Advanced Diabetes Management. His clinical interests include resident education, patient safety, diabetes, multifetal gestation, and complex maternal conditions. He is fluent in Spanish. In his free time, Dr. Poole enjoys playing sports, learning, and spending time with his spouse and 5 children.

Rios, MD, FACOG, is a native of Puerto Rico and graduated with distinction from The University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, with a degree in chemistry. He earned his medical degree from The University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in San Juan, and completed his internship and residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at University District Hospital in San Juan. Dr. Rios brings a wealth of experience in women's health care. He is board certified and has been a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 1994. Prior to joining El Paso Perinatology, Dr. Rios had a private practice for many years where he built a strong reputation offering comprehensive care to the women of El Paso. He also previously served as chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sierra Medical Center. Dr. Rios has conducted research on topics such as pre-eclampsia and has been invited to speak at numerous medical conferences. Outside of work, he has volunteered in the community and held leadership roles in professional organizations, including past-president of the El Paso County Medical Society and El Paso County delegate to the Texas Medical Association.

Biography: Dr. Randle Umeh is committed to helping women stay healthy at every age and stage of life. He is especially passionate about caring for the El Paso community as he grew up and has spent most of his life in this wonderful city.Dr. Umeh graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in chemistry from the University of Texas at El Paso. He then graduated from St. George's University School of Medicine in Granada, West Indies. He then returned to El Paso to complete his OB/GYN residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.During residency, Dr. Umeh presented at the Dr. Ralph J. Anderson Texas Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Annual Resident Research Day. He has a special interest in performing research to help improve women's healthcare for all. He has helped to publish research about using telemedicine to provide care after minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Dr. Umeh is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists as well as the American Medical Association and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. He has also received certification to perform minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, including robotic-assisted surgery.Dr. Umeh provides well woman exams, pap smear testing, birth control and family planning support. He also has the knowledge and skill to help with a wide variety of women's health issues. His expertise also extends to prenatal care.Dr. Umeh's mission is to provide every woman he treats with patient-centric care in a warm and compassionate environment. He will attentively listen to all patient and family member concerns so that he can build a positive and trusting relationship. Melissa Mendez, MD, FACOG is a born Californian, who completed medical school at the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine in 2003. She was then accepted into the Phoenix Integrated Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Phoenix, AZ where she was named Chief Resident in 2006 and graduated residency in 2007. She then joined St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center as a faculty physician and instructor. Dr. Mendez became board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FACOG) in 2009 and relocated to El Paso, TX in 2010. Dr. Mendez joined the teaching faculty for Texas Tech University and was then named the Program Director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program until May of 2018. Dr. Mendez has most recently joined HCA Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare as the Program Director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program. She is passionate about providing a full range of Women's Health Services to all ages and recently became board certified in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. Dr. Mendez enjoys running, giving back to the community and spending time with her family.
