Biography: I have helped thousands of cancer patients since 1998, when I completed a fellowship in medical oncology. My training enables me to diagnose multiple types of cancer and devise non-surgical treatment plans, including chemotherapy, to help patients. \n I was inspired to do this work at a young age by the loss of my mother to lymphoma. That experience helps me relate to patients dealing with more aggressive forms of cancer and provide the kind of compassionate and expert care all of us should expect. \n In 2020, we brought an unprecedented level of cancer care to Rowan County with the opening of Novant Health Wallace Cancer Institute in Salisbury. The institute offers advanced radiotherapy technology, genetic counseling, private chemotherapy suites and access to an oncology dietitian, nurse navigators, and social services all under one roof. And, it provides local access to clinical trials of advanced cancer treatments. \n I am honored to have helped bring such a comprehensive level of care to my community and value every day I have with my patients. \n My wife Trish and I are raising two daughters, Brianna and Marissa. We enjoy travelling, good food, thoroughbred horse racing and watching University of North Carolina sports. I also have a personal passion for medical mission trips.

Biography: Medicine, and oncology specifically, have been a calling for me from a young age. My family has no medical professionals, yet I knew from childhood that a career in medicine was in my future. I have always had a particular interest in the science of oncology and the incredible advancements in cancer treatments that have occurred in the last century. Today, I am a hematology and oncology specialist focusing on the treatment and management of breast and lung cancers. \n My colleagues and I believe in a team approach to care. That is why I serve on thoracic and breast tumor site councils and the committee for cancer at Novant Health. This is an opportunity for us to come together with our colleagues to discuss cases, explore treatment options and develop care plans for our patients as a team. \n What I love most about oncology is the relationships I develop with my patients and their families. Cancer can often be a long journey, and I consider it an honor to help patients navigate through these challenging times and beyond. \n I am originally from Columbia, South Carolina, and did most of my training in my home state at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. After completing my medical training, my husband and I relocated to Charlotte to be close to family. I am happily married to my husband, and we have two boys who are the light of our lives. In my personal time, I enjoy exploring nature with my children, traveling and reading, as well as daily exercise.

Biography: I am board-certified in hematology and medical oncology and take care of patients who have been diagnosed with a variety of blood disorders and cancers. I was drawn to the specialty because I wanted to deepen my understanding of the biology of cancer. As our knowledge grows in the medical community, I am grateful to see new treatment options for patients and improvements in their outcomes. \n I am passionate about patient education and believe those we serve are more likely to follow through with the care we recommend if they understand the 'why' behind the prescribed treatment. I enjoy forming meaningful relationships with my patients and their families. Those relationships help me deliver the personal touch that I cherish. \n In addition to clinical work, I have an interest in clinical research. These studies enhance our understanding of cancer and its processes and help us find better treatments for our patients. That continues to be an important goal in my life. \n I live with my wife in Concord, North Carolina. In my free time, I enjoy watching sports, hiking, reading and traveling.
