Biography: I grew up in suburban Philadelphia, then went to Harvard University for my Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, then down to Duke University in North Carolina for my MD. I returned to Philadelphia for post graduate training at the University of Pennsylvania. I remained on the faculty at Penn for a couple of years before migrating to Abington Hospital (now Abington Jefferson Health), where I have been very committed to my practice in clinical and interventional cardiology since 2001. Biography: Sumeet K. Mainigi, MD is the Chairman of Cardiology and Director of Electrophysiology at Einstein Medical Center. He is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College. He is a leader in the field of electrophysiology in the Philadelphia region and nationally. He has pioneered numerous techniques in the field and was the first physician in Philadelphia to perform ablations without fluoroscopy (x-ray), utilize quadripolar pacing leads for advanced heart failure, contact force sensing catheters for ablation and many other technologies. He helped develop an approach of using 3D Printing to make electrophysiology procedures safer and faster for patients. Dr. Mainigi has presented original research at many national and international scientific meetings and has authored numerous publications, book chapters and review articles in the fields of cardiology and electrophysiology, including a breakthrough catheter ablation study that has changed the way doctors often treat heart failure. Biography: Dr. Witzke is Director of the Structural Heart Disease Program and Director of the Latin-American Cardiovascular Program at Einstein.
