Care Philosophy: Talkspace partners with care providers who find satisfaction in providing therapy in a way that prioritizes the client's convenience and preferences. Because all therapy takes place virtually, through messaging, live virtual sessions, or both, providers can communicate more frequently and casually in comparison to traditional face-to-face therapy. Talkspace treatment methods are supported by scientific research and are committed to non-judgmental care that is inclusive and respectful of cultural and other identities. Talkspace patients are matched with the best provider for them based on their needs and availability during the registration process. Once matched with a provider, patients may change at any time, and may contact support to request a specific provider. *The above is attributed to Talkspace and not the provider.*

Biography: My name is Natasch Lindsey Acker. I am a licensed therapist. You can call me Talyah. I've been fascinated with psychology my whole life. I've worked in the fields of education with young people, and then in counseling for a total of 20 years. I've attended Spelman College, Columbia College, and the University of Arkansas. I've chosen to specialize in helping people have better relationships. Much of what we struggle with today is a direct result of the things we learned and experienced in our past. Things that we had no control over. My favorite two sayings are "Knowledge is Power" and "Team work makes the dream work." They can be corny, I know; but cliches become cliches for a reason. Because they start with well worn truth. Gaining knowledge of how our mind works can empower us in so many ways. It's like turning on the light switch in a cluttered attic. You can see the fullness of your environment and can easily navigate your way through once you see the full space clearly. Our lives are like that. Because we are social creatures, we live, and grow, and develop our sense of self by what we see reflected in the eyes of others. It is vital that we have a support network. And sometimes that support can start with just one person who will take the time to listen and be on your side. I am here to be that person for you. I am passionate about helping people learn how to have a healthy connection with themselves and with others; because those connections are our greatest sources of happiness and satisfaction. You can have better relationships, more outward success, and greater peace. You can rewrite your old scripts and choose how you want your life to unfold, rather than continuing to follow the old patterns that worked in the past, but are no longer working in your best interest now. Thank you for taking this first step with me.

Biography: I am a female Licensed Certified Social Worker in Arkansas with 44 years of experience. I am also a Reiki healer. I have had many years of experience and training in hypnotherapy and combine the hypnotic trance with healing techniques when requested. I work with clients to transform obstacles into resources and become the best version of themselves--one that goes beyond what their conscious mind thought was possible. Approaches I love are Mindfulness, Creative Change, and Wellness, and Healing. I tailor the model of treatment to the client rather than the client to the model of treatment I loved my work so much that I made many lateral moves, wanting to know as much about each area of therapy as possible. I stayed at a job for an average of two years before moving to another job to explore another area. For example, if I were were working with children, I would move to a job working with domestic violence, then addictions, then psychiatric disorders, etc. As a result, I have become a very competent generalist in all areas of therapy. I work with clients as a working team in a warm, interactive way. I have also worked extensively with active duty military service members and their families. I was a Military and Family Life Consultant, working with active duty military and their families on military bases for 10 years. I continue to love working with our military population. I have great respect for people who seek help for obstacles that are troublesome in their lives and work hard with them to achieve their goals. I have worked on my own issues in therapy to insure that my clients get excellent help from an emotionally healthy person. I would love to support you in your life journey.

I congratulate you for taking this first step toward improving your life and well being. I hope to have the privilege of walking with you on a journey to discover more about yourself and how you interact with the world. Rather than list a lot of therapeutic models I use, I think it is more important to tell you that I believe it is important for a therapist to have the ability to be 100% present when interacting with you, have great listening skills, and to be caring, sensitive and non-judgmental. I believe that this describes how you will feel about how I will work with you as your therapist. We will work together to identify your goals and make plans for you to meet them. I will sometimes have gentle suggestions and other times ask you questions to help you discover the direction to take on your own.

I also like to explore your family of origin issues as those early family dynamics do tend to influence who we are today. Biography: While my first career was in the business world, my subsequent careers were being a Lutheran pastor, working as a social worker in child protective services, and being a mental health therapist. I have 24 years of experience in social work and mental health. As a pastor, I have served 5 theologically conservative Lutheran churches in 3 states. My experience as a therapist has mostly been with community mental health clinics that provided services under the auspices of the state department of mental health. At community mental health clinics I provided therapy to clients of all ages, many having the full range of serious mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma from sexual abuse and post -traumatic stress disorder. My experience in community mental health was invaluable in honing my skills as a therapist. At one clinic I was part of the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy team that provided DBT therapy to clients suffering from borderline personality disorder. I believe that psychotherapy is a marvelous thing. It brings healing to people only through words. It is work, and to be successful in therapy one must work harder than the therapist. My therapeutic approach is cognitive behavioral, which means that I help the client to change beliefs that are false (example: "I believe I am worthless due to my history of sexual abuse as a child."), and change behaviors that are unhealthy and which stand in the way of a life that has joy and peace. That means that the key factor in my approach is CHANGE. My successes have been with clients who are willing to do that. I look forward to working with you!

It is important to remember that you are a partner with your Counselor as you find the right treatment plan for you. You have a voice in your healthcare decisions, and it is important to communicate your goals and preferences clearly to get the highest quality of care.
Ways to advocate for yourself during appointments include: preparing questions in advance to ask your doctor, bringing someone with you to listen and take notes, asking your Counselor to clarify when you do not understand something, and being honest when you have concerns.
If you are unsure about a recommended treatment, tell your doctor you want to seek a second opinion. A quality Counselor will not take offense at this; rather, a good doctor wants to get as much information as possible to make the right treatment choice. If your Counselor does question your interest in a second opinion, it may be a sign that another Counselor may be a better fit for you.
