Born and raised in Shreveport, Dr. Hefner is thankful to be able to serve the community in which he was raised. A graduate of Northwood High School, Dr. Hefner earned his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. From there he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in molecular and cellular biology as well as a minor in chemistry. Afterwards he attended LSU Health Sciences center in Shreveport where he attained his medical degree. Dr. Hefner completed his residency in neurosurgery at LSU Health Sciences in Shreveport. He participated in numerous basic science and clinical research projects, earning special recognition for some. Dr. Hefner has published book chapters, numerous articles in peer reviewed journals, and has presented at several state and national conferences. He served as chief resident from 2020-2021. Dr. Hefner has also spent significant time in an enfolded fellowship with Dr. Anthony Sin focusing on adult and pediatric complex spine surgery. Dr. Hefner is very excited to join WK in serving the community he loves to call home. He has interest in adult neurosurgery including the surgical treatment of a variety of brain, spinal, and peripheral nerve disorders. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive treatment options. He is happily married to his high school sweetheart Amy, and is the proud father of four beautiful daughters, Madison, Kensley, Nicole, and Makayla.When not practicing medicine, Dr. Hefner enjoys being involved in his church where he serves as a deacon, international travel, reading, amateur astronomy, and anything car related.

John D. Reeves, MD, is a neurosurgeon at Spectrum Neurosurgery, part of Willis Knighton Health in Shreveport, Louisiana. A Shreveport native, he graduated from LSUHSC-New Orleans School of Medicine in 1984. Dr. Reeves did a general surgery residency at the Shreveport LSUHSC campus before returning to New Orleans for a second residency in neurosurgery. His fellowship was in Switzerland at University Hospital of Zurich, working under world renowned cerebrovascular and brain tumor neurosurgeon Dr. M. Gazi Yasargil. Dr. Reeves is board certified in neurological surgery (American Board of Neurological Surgery). Away from the clinic, Dr. Reeves enjoys spending time with his wife, Jamie Woodruff Reeves, and their two grown daughters. Dr. Reeves enjoys the usual southern pastimes of fishing, hiking, exercise, reading, cooking and entertaining. And of course, he enjoys playing fetch with his beloved fur child Kojo.
