Dr. Naren Gupta completed his surgical internship and earned a PhD (with Distinction) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Virginia, and went on to advanced training in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at Emory University. His research in antibiotics usage to prevent infections after surgery, the role of nutrition in disease, and stroke prevention by carotid surgery and stenting won national awards and is widely published. Dr. Gupta has worked with FEMA, the Department of Homeland Security and the White House Medical Unit to provide surgical care during the G-8 Summit and disaster relief services after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. During Operation Enduring Freedom, he provided services as a Distinguished Visiting Surgeon at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany to care for acutely injured US and NATO warfighters flown in from Afghanistan and Iraq.
