Biography: Cecelia H. Boardman, MD, is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist with Virginia Gynecologic Oncology, part of the Sarah Cannon Cancer Network at Henrico Doctors' Hospital. Dr. Boardman completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, as well as a postdoctoral research fellowship at Magee-Women's Hospital with University of Pittsburgh. Biography: Steffanie Owens, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologist with Virginia Gynecologic Oncology, an affiliate of the Sarah Cannon Cancer Network at Henrico Doctors' Hospital. Dr. Owens received her medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine. She completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California, after which she served as an Ob/Gyn in the U.S. Navy for four additional years. Amongst her military awards she received the Navy Commendation Medal prior to relinquishing her commissioning as a Lieutenant Commander. As part of the team at Virginia Gynecologic Oncology, Dr. Owens provides expert care for women diagnosed with cancers of the cervix, ovaries, uterus, vagina, vulva, and endometrium. Dr Owens performs complex surgical procedures with a focus on minimally invasive procedures; she then optimizes perioperative outcomes with use of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) strategies. Dr Owens can continue the journey with chemotherapy, targeted, or hormonal therapies when needed. She partners in care during clinical trials and will be there if the focus shifts from cancer treatment to comfort care. Dr Owens strongly believes in utilization of a multidisciplinary team to optimize the patient's well-being during their care.Dr. Owens is passionate about Quality Improvement and the practice of Evidence Based Medicine.
