Care Philosophy: Dr Chung's laboratory was among the first to recognize the importance of human papillomavirus (HPV) in the etiology of certain HNC as seen in one of the four subtypes in our molecular characterization study. Specifically the research showed that the most significantly deregulated genes in the HPV-positive tumors are cell cycle regulators. These data provided evidence that HPV-positive tumors may be more sensitive to chemotherapy and molecular inhibitors that specifically target cell cycle. In addition, her research findings contributed to establish the prognostic implication of the HPV status. Patients with HPV-positive HNC have a better prognosis compared to patients with HPV-negative HNC.

Biography: Dr. Tracey O'Connor in an Associate Member in the Department of Breast Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. O'Connor received her MD degree from The State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biological Sciences. She completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester Medical Center, followed by a Medical Oncology Fellowship at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Buffalo, New York. Dr. O'Connor's most recent appointment was as Associate Professor of Oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and a Clinical Associate Professor at The State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. O'Connor's clinical interests focus on the care of breast cancer patients. Her research interests are centered around predicting and understanding the toxicity of therapies and developing strategies to mitigate side effects, particularly in improving the tolerability of treatment for older breast cancer patients.

Dr. Grogan joins Moffitt from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where he was a Faculty Clinical Instructor in Neuro-Oncology and Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine, and a Research Associate and Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Oncology, McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research.Dr. Groganspecializes in the management of central nervous system malignancies, with a focus on treating patients with primary CNS cancers including both low- and high-grade gliomas. Hisclinical interests include precision and individualized treatment strategies for patientswith high-grade gliomaswhile also focusing heavily on quality-of-life considerations.

Care Philosophy: Dr Lazarides received his MD degree from Duke University Medical School. He completed an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Duke University Medical Center, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr Lazarides most recently completed an Orthopaedic Oncology Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital-University of Toronto, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, in Toronto, Canada. Dr Lazarides specializes in treating pediatric and adult patients with benign or malignant bone or soft tissue tumors of the musculoskeletal system. His focus is the treatment of sarcomas as well as benign tumors and metastatic bone disease.
