Biography: Dr. Denis Donovan is a general pediatric cardiologist at Weill Cornell Medicine. His research interests revolve largely around the patient and parent experience for children with congenital heart disease. As a trainee, he developed a Pediatric Cardiology Patient Passport to help patients and families to more easily relay complex medical information to healthcare professionals. Dr. Donovan is also interested in the neurodevelopmental outcomes of patients with congenital heart disease and has performed research surrounding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on outpatient therapies for children with complex congenital heart disease. Additionally, he has performed research in the area of heart failure and transplant, evaluating risk factors for hypertension after heart transplant, as well as the association between homograft tissue exposure and pre-sensitization prior to transplant in congenital heart disease patients. Dr. Donovan continues to perform clinical research at Weill Cornell Medicine.Dr. Donovan has strong passion for medical education and has mentored and taught learners at various levels of medical training, from medical students to residents to fellows. As a pediatric cardiology fellow, he was voted "Fellow of the Year" by the pediatric residents at NewYork-Presbyterian, Columbia University Irving Medical Center as an acknowledgment of his partnership, teamwork, and support of the pediatric residency program. At Weill Cornell, as Co-Director of Medical Education for the Division of Pediatric Cardiology, he directs the Pediatric Cardiology experience for medical students and pediatric residents, and also works closely with Pediatric Cardiology Fellows. Biography: Ankur B. Shah, MD, FACC, FAAP is a general pediatric cardiologist at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and an assistant professor of clinical pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College. Biography: I care for children and adolescents who are born with or acquire heart disease, as well as pregnant mothers carrying fetuses who are suspected to have heart disease. My focus is diagnosing heart conditions by interpreting images of the heart, either by ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), prenatally and through adolescence. I was drawn to pediatric cardiology early in my training, when I had the opportunity to care for children with heart disease. I quickly grew passionate about caring for these children and learning to manage the complex varieties of heart conditions. I feel a strong responsibility for keeping kids safe and as healthy as they can be. What I like most about my job is working closely with my patients and their families. It is especially rewarding, as a fetal cardiologist, to meet the parents of my patients before they are born, and to build a strong collaboration that continues after birth and through childhood.In addition, I love to teach students and pediatricians-in-training so that they can gain the knowledge and experience they need to care for their patients. I also take part in research that focuses on assessing outcomes in children with different types of heart disease so that we can improve the quality and safety of care that our team provides. I am fortunate to be part of such an exceptional group at Columbia where our team of heart specialists, in partnership with our colleagues in other pediatric specialties, works tirelessly and compassionately to deliver the best care to our patients.

Care Philosophy: I see children with congenital and acquired heart disease, as well as children presenting with cardiovascular symptoms such as heart murmurs, palpitations and syncope. My main office is located on West 86 street at Central Park West. The office has a state-of-the-art echo machine as well as an ECG machine and event monitors.
