When the surgical outcome is not ideal...
A good surgeon treats his patients with kindness, communication, and objectivity, whether the outcome of his surgery is good or bad. I am a retired physician. I should know. Dr. Battenberg did not satisfy these humane traits when the right knee replacement he performed resulted in a malfunctioning, painful knee that left me struggling to walk. During the fifteen months he treated me after his surgery, he would deny and delay ordering imaging studies and the issuance of the handicap authorizations that would have made life easier. He was sure his surgical intervention was ideal, that a CT Scan and MRI would not show any significant abnormality, and that the issuance of a handicap authorization would delay recovery. Fifteen months after the surgery, he decided, without informing me, that he was no longer my doctor and would no longer deliver my care. I do believe his intentions were good. Was it challenging for him to cope with the surgical outcome was not ideal?

Excellent surgeon
Dr Battenberg is an excellent surgeon. I had a hip replaced by him and I’m very pleased with the entire process. He’s so good at what he does that whenever other professionals in the medical field saw my incision they commented on how nicely it’s healing. He said I would be able to walk up stairs to my bedroom the same day after surgery, and I did. Follow his instructions and you will be fine. I’m totally healed now and my incision is nice and flat and my new hip feels so much better. Highly recommend him.
