USE DR. SAMA ONLY IF YOU WANT THE BEST
Dr. Sama performed a laminectomy on me in Jan 2023. Would not let anyone else even touch me. He is no B.S., totally honest, brilliant surgeon, great back-up team..in other words, 'THE BEST'!. Can I give him 10 stars instead of 5. Love him to pieces. Spinal surgery is tough there is no doubt, but I recuperated beautifully and I am a 'very young' 80 year old. Love him to pieces. Not one minute of stenosis pain since the surgery----and I was in terrible terrible pain prior. Yup, he's the best!

If I could give zero I would. I called his office over two weeks ago. I emailed his office my MRI and EMG tests. I was told I would get a call back within a week. I missed the first call and called back within 2 minutes of the call and had to leave a message. Since then I called 2 more times. Never received a call back. You can keep this guy!!

Dr. Sama is an amazing surgeon, and so caring. When I had some serious problems, he spoke to me during his vacation multiple times, even late at night, and he checked in on me even after he resolved my issues. Plus I had an excellent result from my surgery.

An incredible surgeon! I had a four level cervical spine surgery which Dr. Sama performed perfectly. The surgery was 4 1/2 hours long and half way through it he had a nurse call my family to say I was doing well, and that it was going smoothly! His follow-up has been attentive and thorough. A kind, compassionate man. Highly recommend!

I had spine surgery last March. Dr. Sama is a miracle worker. Once I had the surgery, my excruciating pain down my legs disappeared. He has a wonderful bedside manner and was very comforting and reassuring before and after the surgery. I highly recommend this wonderful and skilled surgeon.

Intake process is ridiculously long and complex and expertise seems to be lacking. If you are suffering from pain, there are many better options available.

When anyone I speak to mentions that they need to see a doctor for back problems I ALWAYS give them dr. Sama's name. Dr. Sama did surgery on my husband with good results and now I am in the process of making an appointment with him for my back issues. He is professional but personable. I admire his honesty and the respect he showed my husband and myself when we were in his office.

Dr Sama appears to be very knowledgeable and caring and has an excellent reputation. His office staff is not as good. Especially the surgical coordinator, who has an attitude and is incompetent, disorganized and inconsiderate

I had had MRI's( Feb. 2016) done of my Thoratic & Lumbar Spine due to long term discomfort in my back and a fall down some stairs at home just a few days after Prostate surgery (11/19/15). I knew i had issues with my L 5 , L4 & L3 Disc. L5 had a "slight" fracture & L4 & L3 were swollen. I'd have a higher rating for Dr. Sama if he had told me I the fracture found in my T-10 was "severe" and not a slight fracture-which is what I was told. Another Dr. found the "severe" description in a case report

Had laminectomy from Dr. Sama in April 2016. One week later had complications and had to be taken by ambulance and admitted to North Shore Hospital with terrible pain going down right leg. could not walk. Had an MRI and my wife took it to see Dr. Sama and all he was concerned about was that the operation was a success. He sat with my wife and son for about 10 minutes and then had to leave for another operation. Couldn't have cared less about my condition and had no answers.

Dr. Sama performed two procedures on me in 2015; cervical fusion and a lumbar laminectomy with L3 fusion. Bothe procedures were well done and have alleviated the chronic back pain which I had been experiencing for several years.

HSS is not what it used to be. Avoid if you can. They have too many patients and not enough doctors. My back surgery did not turn out good and had to go elsewhere to fix the problem. His staff is for the birds, had to wait months for a appointment after surgery and all you do is get the runaround. Go elsewhere, you've been warned!

Andrew Sama is a personable and highly competent surgeon who treats patients with mutuality and respect. I felt that he partnered with me to fully understand my medical condition, review all available options, and to chart the right course for me. In the process he answered each of my many, many questions in depth and detail. A great surgeon at a great hospital. Highest recommendations for him and his top notch staff.
