Dr. Anibal Gauto, MD

Like many at 76 y/o, I have quite thin skin, especially over my ankles. Several months ago, I got caught up in an extension cord and lost about a 2” patch of skin over my right lower leg. After several weeks of trying to heal it with over-the-counter ointments & dressings, it looked worse than ever. I had nightmares of possibly losing my foot! I was referred to Dr. A. Gauto and EMC’s wound care facility. For several weeks and almost on a daily basis, he and his team cultured the wound, cleaned it, wrapped it in dressings and even applied a “boot.” Dr. Gauto even called me at home to see if I was ok. He tried every modality to get the tender wound to close, finally prescribing daily IV antibiotics. Gradually, very gradually, new skin was creeping over the open wound and I knew it was finally going to heal. I don’t think that there’s anyplace anywhere where I would have received this superb and personal level of attention, care and concern. Thank you, Dr. Gauto and the professionals
