Can't believe this great doc is still in business
In 2000 Dr. Landou fixed my flat back syndrome and added hardware to my multi level fusion at Genesys Medical Center. I had a rough surgery with the fusions redone this time from the front (through stomach ) and my back. I am glad to say 23yrs later it's still holding. I am a chronic pain patient for over 30yrs but his surgery is the best I had and may years later docs are still impressed.

On the fence
Very hard to have access to Dr Landau before surgery and afterwards. Doesn’t seem to like too many questions presented to him. He’s nice, quiet demeanor, but I was not kept inform on things that he thought I should have been after a 6 week check after surgery. I was concerned that at that 6 week appointment he thought he had done a fusion and I told him I thought you did a laminectomy. He exited the room, came back and said it was a laminectomy and said I do 4 surgeries a day so he can’t remember. I thought scary. Seems there is no doctor patient relationship nowadays like there used to be back in the day. I wasn’t told to have an X-ray done by that appointment and I wasn’t given a book before surgery where he thought that I had been given. I’m praying my back surgery will be a success.

1st appt. hard to get, but I'm glad I waited till I could get in to see Dr Landau. Exam was much more thorough and he offered the option of a Cofelt clip to hold my L-4/5 in place, post-surgery, an option not even mentioned by the other surgeon I met. He managed my pain without the opiates I can't tolerate. Two days post-surgery, I am feeling great, a little sore around the incision, but no more shocking pain down my legs from the pinched nerve roots. SO glad I chose this excellent doctor!

I wasn't impressed by this Dr. at all. He didn't seem to be very interested in my problems. Didn't say much and made me feel like I was wasting my time.
