Waste of Time
I had prepared for this appointment with questions, information and test results from other doctors. When asking her to look at them she responded with condescension, 'I will if it makes YOU feel better.' Then proceeded to glace for 2-3 seconds. She missed the point of the visit, as she was prone to cut me off to move things along. Dismissed my symptoms. Suggested porn as the solution. And, she was completely wrong by disregarding the connection between menopause and heart health. She lacked empathy, willingness for dialog, respect for and collaboration with her patient, and a willingness to listen for understanding. Thus, a waste of time. I would have given 0 stars if possible.

I would recommend Dr. Prairie to everyone
I was referred to Dr. Prairie by my nurse practioner who recommended I have a couple of procedures. Dr. Prairie thoroughly explained to me and my husband what she was going to do step by step, asking if we had any question.s. While doing the procedures, she again told me what she was doing step by step. She could not have been nicer or more professional.

Unprofessional, rude, and incompetent
This is what she put in my chart when I couldn't remember when my sister had breast cancer'is an extremely vague historian; her history is frequently markedly contradicted by the chart.'My BMI was 26. She said she would get on me if I didn't loose weight. I would not ever recommend this lady to take care of my worst enemy!

After running 45 minutes late, she outright dismissed my problems around peri-menopause. She flat out told me "not possible" and "can't be happening" when I talked about chronic issues with night sweats, hot flashes, and other symptoms like breast pain and irregular, painful periods. This was the worst doctor's appointment I've ever had. I continue to have these problems, but I guess they're not real!

I was searching for a new gyne after my former gyne of 25 yrs retired. I tried a few other gynes and just wasn’t happy until I went to see Dr. Prairie. I had a highly positive first appointment and therefore referred my sister to her. Three years later, we both agree that she is an outstanding doctor and we are so glad to have found her. She is everything we were looking for. She is prompt, conscientious, and considerate of my time. She is also friendly, personable, and patient. More so, however, I feel like I’m getting excellent care. She welcomes questions and provides thorough, evidence-based responses. And, I feel like I can discuss ANYTHING about my health and personal circumstances with her and not feel rushed or judged. Unlike any other doctor I’ve seen, Dr. Prairie kindly and respectfully directed me to effective resources that have helped me get on a path to better health through successful management of a long-term weight problem. I trust Dr. Prairie and am grateful for her.

I needed to find an new gyn due to the UPMC and Highmark disagreements .... I saw Dr Prairie's partner the first year and did not like her. I have seen Dr Prairie the last two years but never will go back there. She did a cursory exam and refused to do the every three year pap test, citing research to prove her points ... I checked the research myself after I got home and learned that Dr Prairie did not know what she was talking about ... wrong information and scare tactics. I do not trust her. She was rude and condescending to boot. I was eight minutes late for my appointment due to the construction at her office parking area, and she made me wait almost three hours for her to "fit me in" .. and I was watching who was coming and going ... she only saw three patients during the time I was waiting and the receptionist said I could not even walk to the machines to get a drink or I would not be seen. This is the first doctor that I have ever reviewed.

I have been seeing Dr. Prairie for 2 years now after being referred to her by her specialist colleague. I am really taken back by the reviews I read as I’ve found Dr.Prairie to be very knowledgeable, compassionate and professional. She takes time to explain everything in a way that I can get easily understand. I have been to a number of gynecologists and find her to be the best I’ve seen. I have recommended her to a few friends who also feel she is an excellent physician.

I will never go back. This is the first negative review I have ever written. My 1st appointment was awkward. I wasn’t comfortable with her style/bedside manner. However, my follow up appointment was TERRIBLE. When I voiced my concerns, she said these are the type of questions that a group of gynecologists sitting around a dinner party laugh about. After bringing up another very sensitive concern & my family history, she told me to consult another doc and “STOP TALKING!” Staff is great.

CONDESCENDING. Went to see prairie after receiving radiation for cervical cancer which left changes that made me less able to accommodate the speculum. During the pelvic exam, I was audibly expressing pain. Was told to “STOP BEING SUCH A BABY”. I’m a woman in my 40’s who just had surgery, chemo, & radiation. I have a high tolerance for pain. Also asked about methods to remove facial hair. Said there was a cream but I wouldn’t be able to afford it & proceeded to tell me to get on Weight Watchers.

I kept my appointment even after reading these reviews. I have to say that the negative reviews here hit the nail squarely on the head. The staff here were all very kind and helpful. Dr. Prairie however was condescending and arrogant. She misunderstood a question that I asked and proceeded to scold me as if she had the right to do so. I had to diffuse the situation myself. Unless you like this sort of thing proceed directly to any other doctor. Btw i hv never left a review for anything b4

She was the worst doctor I've ever seen. She was rude and condescending. She didn't address my concerns and repeatedly insulted my weight. I'm a size 8 and she told me to join weight watchers. I'm finding a new doctor.

I saw Dr. Prairie while she was at Magee in Pittsburgh. I will never forget it. The exam hurt and I started to bleed. This has never happened to me before. I mentioned it to her and she replied the reason it hurt is because I am a "heavier person" and the instrument she used is better for a 'normal sized' person. I am not heavy and never had children. She said that due to my age (39), I should consider family planning. She said she didn't want me coming back happy and pregnant in my 40's.

Very bad experience. Was told I requested a type of appointment that I did not request. Was shifted from room to room, "thank you for your understanding." Was spoken to as if I were an idiot re: menopause. I am 63 - I don't need someone telling me to open a window, drink water, clip your hair up, in order to relieve menopausal symptoms. Was asked if I have a PCP, after reading off maintenance drugs I take that could ONLY be prescribed by an MD. I won't go back and do not recommend her.

Unwilling to help with a situation I felt was very important. She sent me for more testing only to tell me there was nothing that could be done. Why waste my time? Spoke down to me like I was uneducated and didn't have any knowledge of what I was there for. Would not recommend. Will seek advise somewhere else.

As a new patient, I can't begin to express my complete satisfaction with joining Midlife Women's Associates! From the front office staff, nurses, and Dr, Prairie, herself, I was so pleased with how super friendly everyone was. Plus, my appointment started on time and I was also pleased with how quickly I was able to schedule this appointment, get access to a nurse on call, in a very timely manner. Most importantly, Dr. Prairie did her homework prior to my appointment and was very proactive!
