I’ve seen Dr Schief for a year and he is kind and compassionate. I have not been able to give him much to work with due to my many issues and he has been beyond kind to me. I’ve been extremely difficult due to having so many physical problems as well as issues with the medications that are available and he is still working with me when I’m sure it seems like I’m not even trying. He should have given up on me months ago. I am a difficult case. He’s been patient with me when most wouldn’t be. He is extremely thorough. The med’s are extremely hard on me, but he’s still trying his best to help me. I appreciate him greatly and hope some day he will know that I am trying as hard as he is. I doubt I’ll be able to prove myself and that’s ok. He’s a good one. He seems rough, but he’s just extremely thorough. I wish I were an easier patient.

Kind and Knowledgeable
Dr. Schief, is an amazing Psychiatrist. A great listener, calm, and knowledgeable in his area of expertise. I would recommend him to anyone that needs a provider who actually listens, does not judge you, gives great suggestions, and recommendations for medications.

He was nice to me
Felt like I was all over the place and he was very understanding with my sporadic train of thoughts. First psychiatrist I ever seen and I was intimidated but he was nice

He was the most condescending, rude medical "professional" I have ever seen. I left crying every time I saw him, and I actually stopped mental health care altogether for several months because of him. He desperately needs to find a new field.

I'm so glad I read other reviews saying others found him condescending. I thought I was the only one. He's dismissive, rude, and insensitive. I had panic attacks after going to see him because he just doesn't really listen and kind of slaps his own label on you. He got upset with me because my feelings change. He said he couldn't help me if I was being "inconsistent." Um, I believe that's a part of having mental illness, right? If you're thinking about making an appointment with him, just hold out for someone else. He really made my PTSD and anxiety worse.

Dr. Schief was rather condescending and arrogant whenever I went to see him. He justified my fear of doctors by being judgmental and making me feel more like a subject rather than a patient he was trying to get to know. I felt like I couldn't tell him what was really going on with me for fear that he might patronize me. He is supposed to be a trained professional who works with people with psychological problems or disorders, yet every time I left his office after a visit, I felt worse about my problems than I did before coming in. I will never understand why men like him chose to go into a field that is based on dealing with the mental well-being of patients. If you are looking for a psychiatrist at Kaiser I would recommend not him.

He is a very reactive and insensitive person with a domineering personality. I did not trust his medical opinions and would never recommend that someone place an issue as sensitive as psychological health and well being into his hands. I actually feel that my anxiety became much worse after seeing him because of the way he treated me.

I saw Dr. Schief regularly for two years at GSU. Very helpful and professional. Listens to his patients and does not pressure his patients onto any medications. He often wrote me last minute subscriptions when I neglected to schedule an appointment, and he was very accessible.
