ask for the pain ball
I asked a family physician friend for a recommendation for hernia repair and he suggested Dr. Watkins. While I had a 3 x 5 card with questions in my hand at the initial office visit, he answered every single one without my even reciting them. I laugh because his last comment was, 'and by the way, I don't use staples', which was my last question ( he used crazy glue). He ordered a 'pain ball' which no one seemed to know what it was, except for the nurse's comment 'your surgeon must be Dr Watkins', but that single detail saved me MUCH post-surgical pain. I would recommend Dr Watkins for that reason only! The surgery was on a Friday afternoon and I was back to work in the office by Tuesday- this was not any 6 weeks recovery like I had been counseled by another surgeon. I highly recommend this talented surgeon.

Took time to explain his hernia repair procedure and what makes it different from other surgeon's approach. Left no scar, no numbness. Very excellent "bedside manner" and very caring. I have sent 2 other men to see Dr. Watkins for inguinal hernia repair surgery and they both had excellent experiences and results as well.
