Dr. Carpenter Is Amazing
I had been to other doctors who were very dismissive of how I was feeling and would brush all my pain and concerns as normal. Dr. Carpenter was the first doctor I saw for my issues to take the time to listen to me. She never once told me being in pain was normal. She looked for the reason behind my pain and helped find a solution for it. She is a wonderful doctor!

Disappointing
Dr. Carpenter came across as very knowledgeable and research forward. Despite being told she’s riskAverse, I was optimistic about her delivering me. I went into sudden and fast labor and she was the doctor on call, she took forever to come, seemed annoyed, and ignored everything I said I wanted. I was unmedicated because my baby came so fast, and dr. Carpenter said I was going to tear so did an episiotomy. I said no, but caved like I did everything else because this was my first vaginal birth. I’m 11 months postpartum with horrible pelvic floor disfunction. When I saw her at my 6 week she seemed annoyed, acted like my concerns were ridiculous and when I asked the medical reason for doing an episiotomy she said “it’s just easier sometimes women tear in so many different, painful places, but I’m also wrong sometimes and I think someone will tear and they don’t”. She basically told me to get used to my new normal and brushed me off. It seems obvious now she just wanted the delivery over.

cold-hearted
She did perform a successful emergent c-section to deliver my baby girl, but I didn't like her bad attitude with me as I was being induced. I couldn't dilate so she had to insert laminaria in me. It was so painful and she proceeded to say well how did you get pregnant in the first place. (Like she is trying to compare having hard sticks shoved into your cervix equivalent to sex... I don't think so.) At another point of it she said well childbirth isn't painless. It's like WOW thank you so much for your compassion and understanding as I'm scared and anxious and feeling emotional and tired. Thanks for putting me at ease. *please note my sarcasm* At my follow-up appointments she was shoving taking the covid vax down my throat and getting an IUD, which I personally will never do. Didn't like her cold approach and strong opinions. Not the DOC for me.

Dr Carpenter is the best doctor that I have been treated by in my life. She is both knowledgeable in her practice (delivered my second baby) but just as importantly she always takes the time to really listen to her patients and make helpful recommendations. I feel extremely lucky to be one of her patients.
