Great Doctor, Unresponsive Office
If you want to talk to this office good luck. They put you on hold, take a message or send you to voicemail. No call back. The Dr is a good surgeon, but you can’t get any help from the MA or the office, they do not want to help you.

He’s my top recommendation!
I’ve been seeing Dr Castillo since 2010. He was recommended by a Banner Health ER nurse practitioner right after I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Within two weeks I was in for surgery. After meeting Dr. Castillo and his assistant Lisa I immediately felt I was in great hands and totally relaxed. I see this dr every year for follow-up. Three years ago he also took out my gall bladder. Perfect.I continue to send my friends to him, knowing they will get the best everything!

Excellent Doctor best in his field
Dr Castillo is the most thorough and kind physician I have ever encountered. His level of expertise is unsurpassed. It is clear from his demeanor that he truly cares about his patients illnesses and overall wellbeing. On several occasions, he has literally saved my life from severely illnesses and I trust him completely, something I rarely do with doctors.

Best of the best!
Dr. Castillo, PA Mcintyre and the team are truly amazing. I waited too long for a hernia surgery(get it done sooner than i did!). When there was a concern, they found an immediate opening for me ,and the entire experience was second to none. From Roxy in the office helping w logistics, to Lisa getting the team together and explaining everything w care and patience on the specifics of the surgery, to the knowledge of PA Mcintyre and Dr.Castillo. They have a great bed side manner and have so much experience and confidence that i was at ease through the whole office visit and surgery. I did my homework and Dr Castillo and his team were even better than advertised. Another doc i asked for a reference for hernia surgery said, “if i had a concern, that’s where i would go.” Very grateful to them for a great experience. Definitely recommend acting on hernia difficulties. I let things go, where i should have acted sooner. Dr. Castillo set a standard that blew me away.

Disappointing
5 months ago Dr Castillo removed a benign lipomatous on my left leg. Never totally healed and became infected. On Sept 1st called his office at 7:30am, left a message that I needed to come in. At 2:30 still hadn’t heard back so I called again, was asked for my information again and was told his Assistant would call me back. Called back at 7:30am on Sept 5th and left detailed message and now it 5:00pm and nothing from his office. The infection is now draining and not as painful as it was but area still discolored and hard if I push down on it. This is an office with 1 doctor 1 nurse, and 3 at front desk. I am in shock, don’t Drs take an oath to care for their patients? If you see this Dr, you could be the next victim. Needless to say, I’ve found another Dr that will see me tomorrow! I can’t believe I had surgery with this man.

UNPROFESSIONAL, DISRESPECTFUL & RUDE
Dr. Charles Castillo is the absolute WORST provider my mom and I have EVER worked with & I work in healthcare, with providers daily. My mom went in for a consult but has worked with many doctors as of late due to her health so she has received conflicting responses. When my mom mentioned one instance Castillo aggressively berated my elderly mother, stating her medical history (of ONE instance) is a full of lies when he had done absolutely no research to back up that claim. He then scolded/ yelled at her, stating she has issues because she is fat. Not to mention he was yelling so the entire office can hear, publicly humiliating her . She’s been working on her weight and she is down 50 lbs, expecting to loose more b4 surgery. He didn’t take ANY time to learn about her conditions before ripping into her. So he had no idea about the emotional and physical abuse my mother has faced that gave her PTSD which he completely triggered. Theres to much more that doesn’t fit here but just RUN!

LOOK NO FURTHER he's the BEST!
Dr. Castillo is the BEST surgeon anyone could ask for! He saved my career, he saved my health, and arguably my life.. because who could continue to live in such debilitating pain?! 20 years of misdiagnosis, a new gastroenterologist I had been seeing for only 6 months found the issue= a non-functioning gallbladder, NOT gerd/IBS/Dyspepsia...then threw me under the bus to find my own surgeon. Castillo got me an appointment in less than 24 hours, and had me under the knife in 72 hours!! I have NO AMOUNT OF WORDS to express the INCREDIBLE GRATITUDE I have for Dr Castillo and his staff! Doctor Castillo never lost his smile, never lost his patience. Everything went exactly as he said, the incisions were more perfect than that of a plastic surgeon, and I am happy to declare I have NO symptoms, no morning nausea!!! I can eat ANYTHING for the first time in 20 years!!!! For the love of God, seek no further, you have found your medical miracle!

One of the coolest Surgeons/Doctors I've met. It's been a long time since I've seen him, but when I did he was very confident and reassuring. I had a whopper of a case of acute nectrotizing pancreatitis and he diagnosed my problem within 5 minutes of seeing me. Long story short. Dr's were puzzled by what was causing it, but six months later we found out he was 100% correct with his diagnosis. He removed my gal bladder and 5 gal stones that were causing the pancreatitis. He worked magic getting the stones out of the ducts. I haven't had any issues since. I highly recommend.

Shame on you! I came to you with lower ab/pelvic pain and you disagreed with the diagnosis from my doctor. You sent me back to my incapable Urologist Shane Daley to rewrite the diagnosis using your notes and your opinion-WRONG DIAGNOSIS! I’ve been advised by a colleague of yours to report both of you to the Az State Medical Board— Coming soon along with a malpractice lawsuit. I respected your attitude and credibility after my first consultation and actually trusted you to perform this surgery on me. This trust quickly vanished when Lisa, surgery scheduler put a call block refusing my calls. I’ll pray for you bc someday you will answer to a much higher healer!

I saw Dr. Castillo in February of this year as I was having gallbladder problems and wanted to get educated. Dr. Castillo listened to all my considerations about having the surgery and gave me his best advice. I decided to be proactive and have my gallbladder removed. Glad I did as I had over 200 gallstones! The surgery was a total success with no problems & Dr. Castillo had several post-op suggestions that were very helpful for my recovery. I would definitely recommend him highly to anyone!

At this point I can only review my initial experience With Doctor Castillo regarding an umbilical hernia . For now we are going to keep an eye on it, and that's great news cuz I sure as hell don't want the surgery. It was quite evident to me that he has very skilled hands. And that means a lot to me.

Dr. Castillo and his entire staff are very professional, considerate and caring. He listens to patient concerns. I saw Dr. Castillo for a right inguinal hernia and he found I had a recurrent left inguinal hernia as well. He performed surgery on both in December of 2017. Both he and his PA Joni showed great bedside manner, ensuring that I was comfortable every step of the surgery and post-op instructions. I highly recommend Dr. Castillo, referring several family members and friends to his office.

Please understand that my first review was out of confusion and miscommunication out of Dr. Castillo's control. Subsequently, once that was cleared up and taken care of professionally by Dr. Castillo my care was impeccable. My surgery and after care was outstanding. I believe in Dr.Castillo and his staff.

Dr. Castillo starts off all smiles and pleasant when you first meet him. This is all a front. I had a recurrent Ventral Hernia he repaired in October of 2016. It is not even a year later and the whole problem has come full circle. He is extremely non-cooperative towards difficult issues and problems he in variably is responsible for regarding post-surgical complications and need for additional surgical intervention. My first hernia repair lasted 13 years. Castillo's lasted barely 11 months

Overly friendly, but he actually uses that to hide an anger issue, which surfaces pretty quickly if you are an informed patient. He has been around a long time, but is not checked out on latest methods, so he pushes you to do things his (old fashioned) way, when laparoscopic robotic would be better for YOU. Puts down other doctors that are more up-to-date than him. Pushes for the most over-the-top, involved, and expensive treatment (within the confines of what he knows how to do).
